Recommend me some bands please!

Sunn O))) are definately an acquired taste. I wouldn't run out and make everyone listen to them, as it is really music marketed to stoner kids who like to freak themselves out at home when they are bored and alone.

Yeah, Sunn o))) definitely isn't for everybody.

Try these (sorry, I couldn't stick to just one):
Arcturus - La Masquerade Infernale
Between The Buried And Me - Alaska
Cynic - Focus
Diabolical Masquerade - Death's Design
Emperor - IX Equilibrium
Mastodon - Remission
Sentenced - North From Here

Right, here's some of my fave cds that have not been mentioned yet:

For death metal:
Pestilence - Testimony of the ancients
Tiamat - Clouds
Possessed - Seven Churches
Obituary - Frozen in time
Orphaned Land - Sahara
Massacre - From beyond

For Carcass:
Carcass - Necroticism

For "folkish" and black metal:
Turisas - Battle Metal
Finntroll - Nattfödd
Moonsorrow - Verisäkeet
Negura Bunget - 'n crugu bradului
Immmortal - At the heart of winter

For "gothic" metal:
Anathema - The silent enigma
Paradise Lost - Gothic

Enjoy!

In The Woods...- Omnio

definitely my favourite album of all time!
The only In The Woods...album I own is "Heart of the ages" which I can also recommend. Hypnos, to convince me of the greatness of "Omnio", you could bring a copy for me to Ludwigsburg, next time we meet at the Primordial gig... ;)

you mentioned that you like opera sounding metal.

Therion

i only have the album secret of the runes but i think i heard their new stuff, lemuria/serius b, implaments some death metal qualities as well.

Not really a fan of Black metal though...not because of the sound but because I dont like the topic since I'm Catholic (and I listen to death metal, go figure).

borknagar, everythings about fuckin science! but theyre good. possibly the only black metal band to write about marine biology.

if you're a devout catholic, you're bound to like: Cannibal Corpse - Entrails Ripped From a Virgin's Cunt

^^^ Yeah, I was thinking about suggesting good old Bork. 'Epic' has the best production, I'd start there. But any of their albums are good :)

the archaic course and empiricism are my favs.
