Yes and yes. I would rank it third behind Effigy and Pierced but that is still an accomplishment.

It isn't really similar to Pantera, or thrashy, but their start-stop guitar work reminds me of Pantera, just done a few fucking hundred times better.

Hmm, now that I relisten to it there is something of a thrash influence. Try Grand Materia out, fucking fantastic album.
