And that is the exact reason why there's nothing to worry about COB having rap stuff. As Alexi said, rap's all about lyrics, music doesn't even matter as there's no actual music to it.

I think that in some interview they said that there are actually more keys in AYDY than in previous albums, but they are used differently. But yeah I too would like more atmosphere and epic soundscape. And if the keyboards were used like on SW and HB.

And I think that it's safe to assume that they aren't doing those comedy covers anymore, since Alexi himself kind of said that in a Finnish interview. When he was asked, that do they receive a lot of cover suggestions from fans, Alexi replied that: Yeah, but they are mostly same kind of songs than that Britney song, and we did that Britney Spears cover already so we won't be doing that anymore.

No, he said there are more keys in AYDY than in HCDR. They intentionally mixed down Janne's keyboard parts in AYDY. There are actually some really cool parts in Living Dead Beat and Punch Me I Bleed that you just can't hear on the studio record. On the song Are You Dead Yet? they're at least a bit more on top.

On AYDY the keyboards are vastly used to play the same notes as Alexi and your ear can't pick them up, much of them are completely mixed to zero on the album which is odd. You must know the first riff in In Your Face when the other speaker plays Alexi's open E and Janne's C piano sound. Drums seem to be pretty essential in AYDY's soundscape.. Boy they've cut out so much of awesome keyboard stuff from the albums. Other examples are the Chokehold chorus part and the 2nd part of the last Banned from Heaven double chorus. I can only imagine if all that was on the albums as well.

It's almost funny you can actually hear the synthesizers in Sixpounder, the part before the vocals start and on the chorus. Epic stuff. I guess they're just afraid of people saying they're not true metal because they use the keyboard. Either that or they don't wanna take the attention away from the guitars, even tho the synth parts are often more enjoyable. I do agree the worst thing they could do is have those cheesy keyboard parts like in Bastards Of Bodom or We're Not Gonna Fall but all else is awesome.

Kinda fucking stupid to piss on your own music and leave one of the best metal keyboardists just drinking beer on stage.

Also, I don't think a guy who started doing solos when it was against all fashions and has brought keys (and not only background ones) to metal would be afraid of using them, plus that'd be like kicking Janne out of the band but still paying them for doing nothing.

And then, at least he listens to something else than OMGMETAL, which you don't. I'm sick about the "metal is win, rap is shit" thing, even more when 90% of this board users can play none of these.

Third, and final point : if you don't like the covers album, don't buy it. If you don't like BD, don't listen to it. Only 20% of the listeners will actually PAY for the covers album, so what's your problem ? You listen to COB's music for free, and you dare coming on the board to complain about it ? If you dislike COB's "comedy death metal", leave the thread and go away ! You all spend your free time complaining about bad music, instead of discovering awesome bands on the net ! Listen. I've contributed a lot of effort as a fan to this band, I have a right to say what I think. I don't see why all this whining about me saying things from the negative perspective. Sure it's nice they put out the cover album, I've no problem with it, but I'd rather have say an album of recorded COB demos. They can do with the music whatever they want, it's always a matter of opinion which album you like the most, there's not a damn thing you can do to change things. The only problem I've had is the drinking affecting their music in one way or another. It means broken bones = lack of song writing time, and it means lack of energy. Is all Still my favourite band by a mile and I spread good word and insight about them without being paid and waste my fingers from time to time learning to play their songs on the keys and guitar. And I think it's good for an artist to listen to as many genres as possible. I for one do not think metal is the best music even at its shittiest.

Much more harm could have been done if he had actually cut his tendoms when he was young and suicidal, but as SW, HB and FTR are omgtrue and neoclassicool nobody complains, but as new stuff is not same style as old one (while it's still amazing) now everybody complains about Alexi's life as if we had anything to do about it. You can influence your hand grabbing the bottle but you can't influence your psychic issues that easy. Altough, for someone addicted to drinking it's a huge challenge to let it go, especially if you're living that kind of rockstar life, so I understand it. And, like I've stated, I don't care about neo-classical pieces. I care about the music in general. If it's troubling you, my 2 favourite albums are Follow the Reaper and Blooddrunk. Don't make me seem like one of those neoclassicool "Something Wild is the only good thing COB ever did" people.

Do you think it doesn't affect your music if you get totally wasted 200 times a year? Plus to that, break your hands you're supposed to play guitar with and ruin your lungs you're supposed to sing with. There's a reason why professional boxers end up being not very bright people and the same thing goes to this. I'm a party beast myself 2-3 times a month but the other 27 days I keep the whiskey in the jar. And I'm still a lunatic.

and yup, I agree on this as well. I actually agree a lot with what you have said in this thread Joonas. Especially about bringing back the atmosphere that they have lost after FTR.
