Yes a lot of todays church is corrupt, and teaching nothing anywhere close to what Jesus said, which is sad and again among non - christians gives us a bad name.
Do you assume that I do not think for myself? I chose christianity, I didnt have to.

and you know yours is right, how?

or, more to the point, you know Muhammad's update after Jesus wasn't right, how?

or, further to the point, you know Jesus is any better than any of the other miracle workers of his day, such that it even matters which brand of Christian lunacy you choose as if any one of them is right, how?

trust me, it's not members of other denominations that give Christians a bad name, its anyone who believes in that nonsense.

What Jesus believed in wasn't religious so much as philosophical. It's the Christians who invented all the mythological bullshit. Jesus was into turning the other cheek and being nice to people and stuff...I don't 100% agree with Jesus' message, but overall I'd say what Jesus said was cool. The shit his followers made up after his death, both the bullshit mythology and the twisted ideology, have nothing to do with Jesus. Calling it the Christian church is actually kinda stupid. I know several Christians who just stopped going to church; they were never into the "Holy Trinity" bullshit or whatever, just the overall message, and so the moment their pastor started mentioning politics they left. I personally see no reason to call oneself a Christian when the philosophy you follow is just to be cool to people, but whatever...the fucking ignorant rednecks who believe in a literal interpretation of the bible, however, are just retarded.

As to what Seditious was saying, yes, it was the Lutherans. And no, you can never know which philosophy is the best because there is no best, you just have to pick the one you like. Personally, I see labelling yourself by your philosophy as weakness; you thus confine yourself to that philosophy and that philosophy alone. I believe personally in various elements of Christian, Buddhist, Greek, and Satanic (Church of Satan, not literal devil-worship) philosophy, as well as my own thoughts, and I don't believe in any supernatural powers or anything.

I think everyone should expose themselves to a variety of ideas and pick the ones they like; a sorta philosophy salad bar; some of this Nietsche, some Bertrand Russel over here, grab a bit of Locke, and viola, ideology-a-la-mode.

None of the other miracle workers were the son of God
or claimed to be.

No most christians that arent ignorant, believe that works WILL NOT AND NEVER WILL get you to heaven.

I have never met one that believes that you can get there by works alone.

Ok...so, he wasn't delusional, therefore making him a poor choice to follow. And that whole Virgin Birth and Immaculate Conception thing is just ridiculous...so, Mary was married some kind of eunuch? And wouldn't that make God a rapist or something? As well as worse than Oedipus? Anyone who claims divinity is either insane or lying...so maybe Muhammad was simply a little bit more rational.

Muhammad's update? Muhammad followed a completely different God.

Completely different? The 10 commandments are still intact, there's still a mass-murdering, ignorance-promoting, oppressive, mysogynist religious Establishment, and people are still bastards...so, not so different.

Whereas most people that aren't ignorant know that heaven is bullshit and when you're dead, you're dead. Anyone who believes in a literal heaven is ignorant, no matter how they think you get there.

"Son of God" is one of the misunderstood concepts in the Bible. It simply was not used as a "divine title"; neither was "Son of Man". Both of those terms were used to describe people who were closely tied to the will of God, agents of God if you will. When Jesus used it, that was what he meant. That's not to say that Jesus was not God, but rather you can't really argue from those terms.

Are you kidding? Allah is precisely the same deity as YHVH, preaching otherwise is blatant ignorance of history and religion. Islam, Judaism, Christianity, and some minor others make up the Judeo-Christian religions, all of which branch from early Judaism, and all of which follow the same God of the Jews.

Hence Islam acknowledging both Moses and Jesus as prophets of god. All religions are basically the same, with a few variations. It all comes down to not killing each other and sacrificing independent thought to a vague, mysterious, and all powerful deity who could totally smite you if he felt like it.

Yea and how would you know that?

If your not a Christian where do you get off telling me(A Christian) what Christians believe and dont believe?

If you ask a Jew, or a Christian they arent gonna say that they worship the same God as those of the Islam Faith do.
Tho they are derived of the same God.

Christians Worship Jesus as God, and Jews do not and neither to Muslims.

How on earth would one become a Christian if one is unable to determine their belief system without already being a Christian?

A just criticism Blowtus. But llamaking does have a point here. Jews see God primarily through the O.T. and subsequent tradition based off of the Torah. Christians see God primarily through the lens of Jesus Christ. Muslims see God primarily through the lens of the prophecies of Mohammed. So one could say, sure, they all technically have one God, יהוה (YHWH). But all three religions have very different views of God (despite WeAreInFlames and Erebos's often rehearsed positions).

Some of you folks may actually enjoy reading some of Nietzsche's thoughts on the dichotomy between Jesus(the man) and the Christ(the messiah).("Twilight of the Idols" "The AntiChrist" "On the Geneology of Morals" "The Dawn") Though he despised Christianity with a passion, his opinion of Jesus as compared, say to Paul(Saul) and various early 'Christians' is interesting and not entirely far removed from what have some have expressed here - though in a much more developed form of course:Smug:.

This is just one of many areas where the Nietzsche of myth differs in no small degree from what he actually wrote.

Agreed, Nietzsche was ambivalent towards a number of thinkers, esp. Jesus, Socrates, and Hegel. A really good book on this is Solomon's What Nietzsche Really Said. He makes a list of Nietzche's most-liked and least-liked figures. Several figures make both lists.

All monotheistic religions are the same. Polytheisms and non-theistic religions (like Buddhism) are FAR removed from the likes of Islam, Christianity, etc. Primarily, they tend not to be absolutist, and in the case of Polytheisms are usually highly symbolistic.

Yeah, ok, you're right. Important distinction. Sorry.

Yea and how would you know that?

Because I AM God.

Ok, you don't have to be a Christian to read the Bible, 10 C, etc...of course I can figure out the belief system of the Christian church. Frankly, the Christian, Judaic, and Islamic god all say the same thing, with like 3 variations, such as "Jesus is God," (Christian) "Jesus is a prophet of God," (Islamic) and "Who's this Jesus guy?" (Jewish) This is what they call the "Crushing Grip Of Reason"
