Mouth of the Architect ..post-rock
Bohren Under Club of Gore ..really dark and jazzy ambient stuff
Amber Asylum ...dark classical-type stuff
Waking Life OST ..performed by the Tosca Tango Orchestra. Really dark, moody stuff. Excellent!
Baron Grod ..local Austin post-rock band
Bartok's string quartets ..Atonal classical stuff. Incredible and quite dark.

Really? I always felt I&W was quite a happy album, considering it uses so many major key sigs (not a bad thing).

I find film music the most emotional, but thats just me. Check out "Gollum's Song" from the LOTR: Two Towers soundtrack. That is depressing, really. Amazing vocals. YouTube ain't great but it gives you an idea..

The singer is Emiliana Torrini - she has a new album out which is quite good in my oppinion, not so melancholic though..

Isis, Tool, Pelica, Jesu, Cavite, March Hare(seriously), bossk, and Russian Circles

check afew of them out if you haven't already :D

Hey thanks for the March Hare comment!

My chillout music would be:

The Cure (Bloodflowers especially)
Anathema
Katatonia
Godflesh (slower material)
Massive Attack
And my favorite Pink Floyd album Animals.

flim music, post-rock instrumental shit, 70's prog and fusion, and neoclassical shit like Dead Can Dance, Lisa Gerrard's solo stuff, Kronos Quartet, et.

anyone in to dark ambient industrial/electro shit and film music, do yourself a favor and look up the artists called Blackfilm. that's not their pic in their profile, btw... that's the Ornette Coleman Quartet. not sure why they have that there. check out all their tracks.. this first one is not a good indicator really.

This thread has taken off ridiculously...its gonna take me all night to check this many bands out, lol.
