Sarah Palin & Rob Rock

Well said.

I think people often confuse that which they like or don't like, with quality. You see it with regard to music all the time. People will say something "sucks", simply because it doesn't appeal to them. We've all been guilty of this. However, it would be more accurate to say, "it's well done, but not to my liking." The same is true in politics. To not like Obama is a matter of personal preference. Perhaps you disagree with his policies, don't care for his style or oration, etc. However, when people comment on his intellect or qualifications, it only reflects negatively on them. There are plenty of folks over on the Right who I vehemently disagree with (Dick Cheney, Pat Buchanan, Bush Sr., etc.). However, these are clearly very bright people, who simply hold a different worldview than I do.

Brilliantly stated, Zod.

Not saying that Palin was qualified to be President (of course, she wasn't running for the position either), but she was closer to being qualified than what we got. McCain was definitely more qualified to take on the issues we currently have. He made decisions and not just vote "present" on everything.

This post tells me that you've been watching entirely too much Fox News.

"They acted stupidly"...Special Olympics gaffe...57 states...corpsemen...bowing when he shouldn't...the list goes on and on. Odumba's genius shows no boundaries.

I was very active in researching the various '08 Presidential candidates (had time on my hands, for a change), and became engaged in many discussions about them with numerous people.

Through that, I noticed that people who use derogatory twists on people's names, such as "Odumba," "NObama," or "McLame" (for McCain) in referring to political figures are usually the people who simply have a bias against them, and aren't willing to have an objective discussion about them at all. It's simply "Naw, man, he's an idiot!" or something similar. I learned that as soon as I heard "NObama" or "McLame" (or something similar) come out of someone's mouth, I was wasting my time looking for further intelligent debate from them. C'est la vie.

To be honest, though, "Odumba" is one of the worst. Say what you will about President Obama and his politics, but calling the man "dumb" is simply inaccurate. You don't graduate magna cum laude from Harvard Law (as Obama did) if you're dumb.

However, for the record....it IS possible to graduate 894th out of 899 from the Naval Academy if you're dumb, just as it's possible finish 3rd in the "Miss Alaska" contest, even if you're dumb. Also, despite McCain's class rank, he WAS in the running for my vote.....UNTIL he picked Palin.

Has Obama made some gaffes? Of course. He's in the public spotlight 24x7. It's gonna happen, just like it happened to Bush before him, and the media is going to pounce all over it, just as they did with Bush.

Back away from the individual statements and isolated incidents, look at the big picture, and it should be much more clear:

Palin's an idiot, and while you may or may not like Obama or his politics, he's a very intelligent man.

My bias is that he's not qualified for the job. And, he's been showing that he is not since he got into office...that simple. Some of us realized it beforehand.

I'm not sure what this is suppose to mean? Is it an attempt at humor? Your way of suggesting you disagree? Seems random. Care to clarify?

It means Pat Robertson isn't an intelligent guy, but simply a large hate machine with the ability to get in front of a camera and spew hate rhetoric. He's Fred Phelps on a national, more exposed level. I know you can tell the difference between idiot media whore and intelligence.

Now go back and read what I wrote. I didn't say Pat Robertson... I said Pat Buchanan.

That's kinda cool in a way, that he was actually part of the event.

Now, considering the fact that I'm not a big Rob Rock fan and I despise Sarah Palin (I think she's honestly one of the dumbest human beings on Earth, I don't get how people actually think she's "for real"), I'm not sure I would have enjoyed.

Listening some Rob Rock, then watching Saturday Night Live - live ?
I think it would be lots of fun :)

I pretty much agree with everything you said. It's very easy for people who are looking for every tiny fault a person makes so they can exploit it, to do just that. If some of us were quoted pretty much all the time - I'm sure many of use would be alarmed at what we said every once in a while. It doesn't mean you're stupid - it means you're human.

And @ Claus: Fair enough, but I'm not one of those people.

My bias is that he's not qualified for the job. And, he's been showing that he is not since he got into office...that simple. Some of us realized it beforehand.

That's your opinion, and that's fine. Many said Bush wasn't qualified, and that's fine, too. I wasn't talking about qualifications...more about the unintelligent insinuation of "Odumba". Qualified or not, like him or not, he's obviously a very intelligent man, so to me, calling him "Odumba" takes any credibility out of whatever else you say about him. Food for thought?

Still, I suppose it's simply amazing to me that you apparently think that someone more qualified is the quitter one-term former Governor of the least-populated state in the country, who couldn't even decide which college to attend (she switched FIVE TIMES) and made a complete @ss of herself on national TV with her abomination of an interview with Katie Couric. Did you watch that full interview? It's available on YouTube. I highly recommend it.

For cryin' out loud, she couldn't even tell Katie which sources of media she uses to keep up with world events. Katie asked her THREE TIMES, and she finally said "well, ALL of them, Katie!" She was a f***ing COMMUNICATIONS major with an emphasis on JOURNALISM and she couldn't come up with "I prefer CNN for TV, and my magazine of choice is Time, Katie." I'm sure she'd do GREAT negotiating with China and North Korea!! <laughs>

Again, a *JOURNALISM* student couldn't name her preferred media sources. That's because she's totally out of touch with anything outside of Alaska, as she proved time and time again.

And before you come back with "I voted for McCain for president, not Palin," let me remind you that McCain is 73, and if he had been elected he would have been our oldest (or one of our oldest?) Presidents when taking office. That means that there would have been a fair chance that he could have died in office (particularly given the added stress that comes with the job) and Palin could have become President. <shivers>

I wonder if she'd say she could see Iraq from the White House? Hopefully we'll never know.

You're wasting a lot of your time for no reason...

Why is that wasting time, man? We're just having a discussion over here, and anyone is entitled to express their opinions as they want to. If you don't think it's worth it, why are you even on the thread then? Doesn't that mean you're wasting your time also?

I don't feel like we've been wasting our times. If anything, this has been an entertaining and interesting thread so far.

More power to you.

Though what's being said here has been said thousands of times before on other forums, tv shows, etc. sccaldwell is saying the same stuff that has been said for over a year now. This still is an interesting "discussion" to you?

Can't wait for the next internet downloading debate to start...you'll probably be on the edge of your seat...

All kidding aside, the whole point of this thread is Rob Rock at a Sarah Palin function. Not the brilliance of Sarah Palin or Obama.

And my comment was saying how he's typing these long replies (he replied 4 times to thread in row!). No one reading his view is going to be like "Damn it, he's right!"

Now I'm wasting my time. My whole post is ironic

B. Hussein is smart, l give him credit there. Smart enough to con all the ophiles into believing his promises. Yet, he hasn't come through on any of them. He lied and the nodding heads just fell in line. He even criticized Bush's policies, but it's funny seeing him continue them. If you're one of the many that fell for that shit, consider yourself gullible.

Hey, it works for Fox News and the thousands of blindfolded sheep following them, doesn't it?

ILLEGAL DOWNLOADING? FUCK!! I CAN'T BELIEVE THAT'S GOING ON NOW!!! SHIIIIIIIT!

You're right. It got derailed. Although she really has zero brilliance.

Now I get it.

HAH! You damn hypocrite!

And how, exactly, is that any different at all than every single one of the politicians that has come before him over the last 100 years? And do you honestly feel McCain/Palin would have been any different in that regard?
