wigger metal

Haha, they definately aren't one of the heaviest bands out there but I don't really think that makes them wiggers.

I think they are mostly metalcore, some stuff has thrash influence, thats it really. Doesn't matter to me, I like them either way.

I actually like most Dew-Scented I've heard (Inwards and some of the new disc, which was considerably more thrashy, but still not "thrash" in the traditional respect), but Shadows Fall is ri-goddamn-diculously terrible.

Edit: Also they have a shirt that says "Death to False Metal" which is the worst hypocrisy ever.

Edit #2: METALCORE.

Shadows Fall are the progenitors of metalcore. It is widely chronicled that Overcast was technically the first metalcore band and that Brian Fair of Shadows Fall & Mike D'Antonio of Killswitch were members, but Of One Blood was really the first breakthrough album for modern metal. It was the first album where people took serious notice of the hardcore breakdowns amongst the thrash, black and death metal riffs. Since then, Shadows Fall has attempted a more thrash sound. On some albums it has worked (The War Within and Retribution), on some albums it hasn't (Threads of Life). Overall, they are my favorite 21st Century metal band and should be respected as a band that helped revive a struggling form of music (this is where we all admit and come to terms that metal was in a bad place 1994-99, lest we forget HedPE, Load/Reload, Risk and Machine Head's Supercharger).

Metal was fine during those years. The bands/albums you mention have little or nothing to do with what metal was doing during those years.

One of the bands that started the whole metalcore genre, their early albums actually got some killer tracks.

It's pretty undeniable that they have some strong thrash elements. Of One Blood and Fallout From The War have some pretty good stuff. This thread is so old it's new again.
