Show us your studio 2012 [room / racks / backline]

Since this is the studio gear porn thread, i figured i'd post this here. It's a custom built face up rack i got last month but didn't have fully setup until just recently.

Also got a new little amp, Blackstar HT Studio 20H. I mainly got this for my bands rehersals, but I really like this one so far and now i want to keep it here hah.

Got my new monitors today and finally got all the new stuff in the rack hooked up properly (basically everything but the Saffire). Kinda messy up top, but you get the idea. Still trying to decide how I'm going to treat behind my monitors with a window there... Fully treated to the sides and in the corners, as well as a cloud above... but really not sure on the window situation

Think I might add a patchbay below the power conditioner. Think the ISA 428 might get to hot with it above it, and it'll definitely get too hot above the ASP008.

I had a 428 once great piece. It does get hot especially after a long drum session where all 4 are in use.

Yeah, I haven't had any issues with it yet, but I really haven't used it for more than one input. The Audient gets super hot just in idle, thus why there's a vented rack space cover between it and the Saffire :p

So i had to close down my own studio as I got an offer I could not refuse!

A friend who is pretty high up in the business here in Vegas has opened his own studio and asked me to come in as the head producer / engineer. We are in the process of outfitting the new place and I took some photos to show you some of the new stuff now available to me and how awesome the place is gonna be when its finished!

Argosy Desk with a 128 point patch bay/s we have been wiring these up for DAYS! My fingers have been burned so many times it sucks :p

Preamp Central - 6x BAE 312 pres - Focusrite OctoPre - Presonus Eureka - The 4 extra spaces are gonna be some N72's from 7th Circle once we get everything else sorted.

We are using the Saffires as an interface for PT9 and Sonar at the moment till we get our new HDX System in next month, we are still negotiating pricing.

Patch bays and the Furman Headphone Distribution System. Everyone controls their own headphone mix!!! YAY!!!!! No more countless hours creating headphone mixes for everyone!

Yes those are some old ass ADATS that record to VHS! No we are not using them, but if we ever get some masters we can bounce em into PT :)

Live room is still being worked on, along with the ISO both for Guitar / Vocals. Will post those in a few weeks when everything is done.

There was a Control24 in the studio till last week when we gutted it. We will be ordering a Euphonix / Avid Mix system with 3 fader packs. I am in the process of building something to fill the space the Control 24 was in that will hold the Euphonix / Avid System

That looks great Jason! I'm happy things turned out well for you :)

Btw, is it alright to place the Yamaha HS80Ms horizontally? Does it have any effect on the stereo imaging?
I was wondering if it would be alright to place the Yamaha MSP7s horizontally.

Hey guitarguru, how does that bottom Focusrite unit compare to the Octopre for conversion? Does it have DA conversion from ADAT? Or, more easily, what unit is it? Wouldn't mind having a look online..

The bottom one is just the Octopre MKII. Basically the same thing as the Saffire Pro 40, just without the FireWire connection.

They didnt get the Octopre with the D/A conversion option!!!!!

I was LIKE WTF!!!!!!!!! But the Saffires sound GREAT! I really do love them. The OctopreMKII does all my conversion.

As far as the stereo imaging I think my mixes have been better since turning them sideways! I still go back to my KRK's as a reference for sure though since I have been mixing on them for 3 years now! I love the way the Yamahas Sound but find the KRKs to be a bit truer in the overall representation of the "LOW" mids. Yamahas tend to be a bit scooped for my taste, but in time I will get used to them.

Oh and there is a KRK 10" sub back there too :)

Buy ns10 man. I bought them a couple of weeks ago. Sounds so much better then the hs80's (which isn't bad in any way) Crystal clear mids , mixing bass and guitars becomes so easy
