Slate Virtual Mix RACK

A channel strip has been on my list of things to get for a while, so this could definitely fill that slot. Well, too. I also wish they'll add a DBX160VU, and an opto of some sort would kill for vocals.

I've skipped both VBC and VTM, but this I'm probably going to get. Unless there'll be a cool bundle or something...

Just thinking about this, how much analogue warmth / saturation do tracks need?

Using Slate plugins (VCC, VTM, VBC, VRM), consider a vocal track.
On the single track, it will go raw track -> VCC -> VTM -> VRM (2 x EQ, 2 x Comps), then likely VBC (single module). Then, it'll hit the main bus, for another round of VCC, VTM and VBC.

By my count, that's 11 stages of analogue equipment. And who knows what the additional modules will be?

For the guys with hardware, is this representative of your workflow? I wonder if we're all tending towards white noise with all the stacking of equipment.

I'll likely buy VRM on release day, and run the full chains...just thinking aloud here.

distressor and GML 8200 please...

Perfect suggestion! I'd buy a GML, Distressor and DBX 160vu emulations no questions asked. I'm sick of the standard pultec, fairchild, 1176 everyone does.

Deliver something new and awesome please!

Steven should post a poll thread asking us what we'd like to have for expansions on this VMR

+ffing one!

I'm super keen to hear the high shelf boosts on the EQs, pretty much only thing I'm missing in the box (and, because I have no outboard gear, thus completely missing). Using VTM, VCC and FG-Mu to round off ReaEQ boosts works, but would rather a dedicated unit to have more control.

Steven mentioned somewhere that they were going to do an exciter...keen to hear that.

I wonder how frequent new VMR units will be released? One new unit a month, 4 new bundles every quarter?

Anyway, if it's released in January, it'll be something to look forward to in the obligatory alcohol free month.

Just a bump...still keen as mustard for this - Slate and GS crowd seemed to be more into the virtual mic thing, but VMR will be of more value to me. Hopefully a release to coincide with Musikmesse 2014?

A dream for my MBP !
Now fabrice needs to make a master vst with a full console GUI where you add strip by strip, linked to your tracks with one "anchor" vst dialoguing with that main vst3 plugin GUI. That would be just so perfect as long as you have the choice to use components only as well. I would make it fullscreen on a second screen and the first screen would be the DAW edit and project window. Dream come true !

That is actually a pretty cool idea!

I just read VCC would be recognized as a module for whoever has it as well. Is it confirmed somewhere ? That would be neat if VCC and VTM would be recognized. I would love having a goto strip loadable in one single vst instance with a preset as opposed to using a DAW chain with different Vsts. Would make life easier too when it comes to working on a track, all the different knobs for all variables are in the same window. Make it possible to control all parameters in the session on a master plugin and that would just be more than incredible.

This is gonna be a really ear opening plugin folks. We've studied the analog processors and found some amazing things occurring... and sure enough, we have not found these same things in the emulations that are out thus far. For instance, there is a LOT of saturation going on in the Neve 1073 EQ mid bands that has a really cool effect on hefty boosts. The 1176 has an extremely unique harmonic structure and the most odd release constants you could imagine.. Every single one of these little details will be modeled perfectly so that when you hear this processor, it will give you that warm fuzzy feeling of analog goodness.

I know you and Fabrice are going to nail it with the VMR. What compressors are the fg-116 and the fg-401 based on? Are there some sound samples out yet? It would be great if you could also add the other SSL channel components like the filters, comp and gate section and also include those channel strip components from other desks like a Neve 88RS for native and better sounding UAD alternatives. Something more modern would be great too, like a Neve Portico Desk or modules including the desk saturation and sound.

Thanks Steven! Take your time... Sound Quality > fast release :headbang:
