ok, my english class got an assignment where we have to get a song, movie clip, or piece of writing which uses water as a symbol for something.

obviously, i want to do music, but since most of my class is ghetto and likes r&b/pop, i want something REALLY heavy.

any suggestions?

Water... Hmm... You can probably check "Maudlin of the Well - My Fruit Psychobells... a Seed Combustible" and "Ocean Machine - Biomech" to find info related to your assigment... I'll suggest some songs too...

Amorphis - Drowned Maid
Andromeda - In The Deepest of Waters
Cynic - I'm But a Wave To...
And, songs off the two albums mentioned above...

Good Luck to you!

Fish Out of Water - One Minute Silence
Smoke on the Water - Deep Purple
Bridge Over Troubled Water - Simon & Garfunkle (threw this in)

sorry, no "deep" metal stuff here - just off of my head response

Yeah! This album, which I also suggested in my first post will help you a lot! Also check the song... "Mental Home - Tides of Time"... Interesting...

maudlin of the well. the ocean, the kindgdom and the temptation is a good, but isn't sound heavy, it's emotionally heavy. and the last 3 minutes have really cool underwater effect. but if you want heavy go with the other guy sugestion

KOROVAKILL's "WaterHells" out on Red Stream is a must in the 'water metal' category. Listening to this album feels like you are somewhere beneath the waves. Check "Drown symphony" off that album. Extraordinary!

Shite man, I am sure I could think of something "heavier", but all I can think of is:

Yes, The River Knows - The Doors. (Waiting for the Sun)
Fear The Sea - The Gathering. (Mandylion)
Rescue Me - The Gathering. (How to Measure A Planet?)

Awwww, revelations! check out MDB's stuff, there is shiteloads:

"Into the Lake of Ghosts" - The Light...
<-- This is probably the most "brutal sounding" IMO -->
"The Fever Sea" - The Light...
"A Sea to Suffer In" - The Angel...
"Black Voyage" - The Angel...

These are only the obvious ones. Opeth's use is a little more subtle, but I am sure you know this anyway...BLAH, BLAH, BLAH I am rambling.
:D

Hope I was a little bit helpful at least.

Borknagar - "Oceans Rise"

Iron Maiden - "Ghost of the Navigator" or "Rime of the Ancient Mariner" (This is really good because its based on a poem of the same name, so there's plenty of stuff to talk about. Imagine if they make you play the whole thing- hehe)

Children of Bodom - "Lake Bodom" (I cant understand the lyrics so I cant tell you if its actually about water or not)
