Sooooo, what does everyone think of Katatonia's Brave Murder Day and Sounds of Decay?

Well, call me an untr00 fan or whatever, but I just cannot get into Tonights Decision and LFDGD. It sounds like a lame attempt at goth/alternative crossover.

Katatonia's best days are behind them. At least they left us with Dance of Decembre Souls, Sounds of Decay, Brave Murder Day, Discouraged Ones and For Funerals to Come.

EDIT: Please don't argue and say shit like "Well, they progressed and evolved". That shit is the lamest excuse EVER.

whatever floats your boat dreamlord  i like boths stages of katatonia , i mean i dont know how one can not like tonights decesion or lfdgd and like music...

I wouldn't say they progressed, as their change was quite abrupt, with only Anders' spellbinding guitar lines remaining. I think they went on to something equally great after BMD.

How was it abrupt? On Brave Murder Day they had some clean vocals, Discouraged Ones had the exact same musical style, but all clean vocals.

Very logical evolution.

I agree.

Katatonia is most definitely at their best right now, and presumably will continue getting better. Their early releases were great for what they were, but they're so much more heartfelt now, and thats not a tremendously common occurance these days.

Because, I think, the later albums are reasonably hard to get into. Plus some people will be naturally biased against them as they "were such a great band" and not give the later albums a chance... hence many people don't know what they're missing out on ;)

Hey now, Russell. Was that a shot at me? I actually did own those two albums and listened to them many times. Then it hit me, that these two are inferior two the earlier material.

BMD is awesome tho it probably has about 10 different riffs... Anyway the feeling of Murder is only equal to Opeth's BEST moments, soooo doomy it is.

Still, LFDGD is great in its own merit!!!!! Vocals are great, feeling is still present and oh yes, they evolved!!!!

 Why, do you feel got at? If so it wasn't deliberate ;) No it wasn't a shot at you, just a conclusion I have come to from conversing with some of the "trOO" fans. And don't worry, I know you're no trOO cos you don't like Nattens Madrigal :p
