I just listened to "The Shadow lies frozen" and "rotting horse on the deadly ground" and, is it me or Stronghold is the best Summoning effort? The guitar work is a lot better (and sound better) than on their other releases, and overrall the songs are just great.

Discuss.

This is the album that got me into Summoning. I do think Minas Morgul is their best work. The guitars and vocal combination fucking rule. The only album I have yet to hear is Let Mortal Heroes Sing Your Fame. How is it?

For Stronghold, I love those tracks you mention and the the one with the Opera style singing. :kickass:

I heard Let Mortal Heroes sing your fame is their weakest release, but I don't own it personnally, so I can't tell myself. It sure got more synth though, from the few tracks I heard.

Stronghold was my first Summoning as well. Minas Morgul is their best, no doubt.

Oath Bound is amazing, with the third track being the best on the album.

Listened to Dol Guldur last night. It's good, but not the band's strongest.

I only own Oath Bound right now (TER being out of stock of summoning albums), and I agree that track 3 is the best

Ever since I first heard a track from Minas Morgul I've thought it was the best, yet the only 2 I ever bought were Mortal Heroes and Oath Bound. Good stuff, but the old atmosphere was fucking incredible and it is not the same anymore.

I concur, Stronghold is the best Summoning album.

Although the greatest song on the new one is "Land of the Dead".

I don't know about land of the dead. It's a good song for sure, but the synth and the piano all together makes it soooo cheesy.

Every Summoning album feels like their best when it's playing

This is exactly how I feel, to be honest. Every single one of their albums stands on its own for me. This is one of the few more recent bands with a considerable discography for which I have been compelled to purchase everything. I'm admittedly gay for Summoning, to which I suppose my signature attests.
