I wouldn't say it's anything too special, trad/speed metal with a lot of good energy and ferociousness, nice and rough. I listen to the whole album once a fortnight easily.



Big fan of DMDS by the way, easily in my 10 faves for Norway.

Yeah Pure Holocaust is a masterpiece, but this really isn't as black and white as everyone is making it out to be. It's also dumb.

Different strokes and all that. I have listened to PH more than DFM and still like DFM more for whatever reason. I'm weird, I get it.

Actually At the Heart of Winter has a higher overall score on RYM than Pure Holocaust.

It's also their highest rated album on MA. From what i remember it's always been considered their best work by most people.

While the number of Norwegian as well as Swedish metal bands I like is very small, 4 out of my 20 most-played albums (metal and non-metal) are by Norwegian, yet none by Swedish metal bands. If I extend this to the top 30, Norway wins by 8:2. (And if I count metal and non-metal realeases, the ratio between Norway and Sweden is 12:0 resp. 16:3.)

Just finishing the Black Viper album. The leads and singer are very strong, but I'm not sure about these songlengths for these riffs, even if the songs don't seem too repetitive. Solid overall at least though.
