the Australian Idol thread

Here's a transcript of Marcia v Dicko from http://australian.idolblog.com

Dicko: Mark’s right, you do look lovely and I think that you’re absolutely terrific. I have to say that was horrendous, absolutely horrendous Ricki-Lee. You know what I think of you and I’ve got to speak the truth. There are two Beatles spinning in their graves right now and they’d be absolutely ripe because that just stomped all over a fantastic melody, you just toyed with it, toyed with it and a song like that and a song like that does not deserve to be treated in such a way.

Marcia: But I, I mean, she…

Dicko: Hold on, I’m talking Marcia *raises finger* I’m talking. Um and the other thing is where you’re heading we can make great records with you but that tonight just sounded like it should be tucked away at track 16 on a live album, the sort of one that you skip over, it was just all over the place love.

Ricki: I understand what you mean because you obviously love the Beatles but I didn’t grow up on the Beatles and I tried to do with it what, what..

Dicko: Fair enough, I just don’t know why you didn’t stick to it.

Marcia: Well she did say Shaka Kahn, so

Dicko: But this is not Shaka Kahn though, this is Beatles

Marcia: No but this is Shaka Kahn’s version so

MArk: I like Shaka Kahn’s concept

Marcia: So do I, So do I, So do I Ricki Lee…

Mark: I just don’t think that she delivered it all the way, no I like the Shaka Kahn concept

Marcia: …and I know that you’re tired and I know that you guys are really, it’s been full on for everybody cause this is the first week that I’ve ever seen you guys forget your lyric.

Mark: Yeah me too, yeah well said Marcia.

Marcia: Ever, so you guys are working and been pulled from pillar to post.

Dicko: I would also say welcome to the industry.

Marcia: Hey,

Dicko: That’s the way it is

Marcia: how would you know?

Dicko: Twenty years Marcia, twenty years of getting up with my artists and going to bed with them same time.

Marcia: Yeah but you don’t sing with them

Dicko: No, you’re right, I don’t sing with them

Marcia: No you don’t

Dicko: that’s what you’re here for

Marcia: So when you do we’ll talk

Dicko: No no, hold on, I’m the record company

Marcia: No no no no, I’m just saying yes welcome to the industry

Dicko: No No I’m the record company guy, you’re the singer, he’s the producer, don’t rubbish what I do on this show

Marcia: you know. I am not rubbishing what you do.

Dicko: You are, just cause I don’t sing, you said that I don’t sing so I have no right to be here

Marcia: I just said that you’re not the singer. No, I didn’t say that

Dicko: Yeah you did, because I can’t sing I’ve got no right to judge

Marcia: No I did not, no I did not, I did not I did not bloody (?) say that. I did not say that, I would never say that to you Dicko so don’t even take it there, don’t even take it there, you know I would never speak to you like that so don’t even try. That’s not going to be a headline Dicko.

Dicko: Would you like to say again what you said?

Marcia: What I am saying to you is yes she’s a singer, yes that you’ve gotten up for twenty years with other performers but to get to where she is going and to get to where I have to go you’ve got to get up, you’ve got to be pulled from pillar to post and you’ve got to learn your lyrics and it is hard. And that’s all I said, this week is the first week that I’ve ever seen these kids forget their lyrics and not one of them, four of them have.

Dicko: That’s right

Marcia: That’s all I’m sayin

Dicko: It’s tough, yeah

Marcia: Really? humph

Yep. I get the feeling that if there is a show next year (and I won't be surprised at all if there isn't one) then Marcia won't be there. Or Dicko won't be there - I think he's started his own production company (the Shannon Noll "Up Close" TV show was his first project) so he probably won't need Idol anymore. Mark doesn't do anything anymore so I'm sure he'll be happy to stay.

Alrighty then. I now declare the voting public of Australia stupid and no longer necessary. From now on, all public voting regarding anything will be performed by the people on this board. With me having veto power if I don't like the decision.

What absolute shit. The fact that Casey wasn't in the bottom three was shock enough, but when it came down to Ricki-Lee and Chanel, Ricki-Lee being one of the two best for the whole competition, and Chanel who was easily the best this week, I just thought 'what utter shit'. I guess it is a case of people assuming she is going to win, so there is no need to vote for her. Maybe I will start voting from now on.

I just read an interesting post on the AI boards (I'm bored, OK).

It said that it's not the worst contestant that gets voted out, it's the second worst, because everyone votes for the worst contestant trying to save them. There might be something in that, I think....

Even though I didn't see it, there's no way I think Ricki-Lee should've gone.

First time I heard her I knew she had a better voice than most of the other competitors... and for her to lose out to Marty is a travesty. I always thought he was just about the weakest in the comp.

And from what you are all saying about Casey fucking up, she should've gone.

I'm thinking people are starting to get behind Dicko a bit too much, and with his fight with Marcia they thought: "Dicko said Ricki-Lee was shit, so I'm not voting for her this week" or something like that.

I also believe a voting for who you want off the show is a better idea.

The reason they make you vote for who you like is that it means if you want on particular person to go, you have to keep ringing and voting for everyone else. That means more money in the pockets of the producers....

I didnt watch the show and only just found out. What a crock of shit. What did the judges say when Chanel and Ricki-Lee were the two standing there at the end?

"This is a scandal" Nice one moron, perhaps if you hadnt called it a terrible, awful performance (which was CLEARLY wrong) she might be still there!

Marty is like some kind of stealth bomber, how is he still in the competition? Its like nobody can get a lock on him to take him down!

Was Courtney in the bottom three too? I kinda only saw Ricki's song, but I noticed Courtney had a mic as well.
Courtney had a mic to do back-ups with RL because he's the only one who knew the arrangement. This contest is getting too hard to pick. For a while there I thought that people were actually voting against the worst performer of the night, but now it seems they're voting against the favourite. Casey got the sympathy vote. She should have gone for sure. If they got rid of Angie for one weak performance, Casey should be out of there. I like Marty. He's not the best singer, but he's better than Shannon Noll, and anyone who auditions by singing "I Believe in a Thing Called Love" wins my vote.
