Borderline
excuse you. don't be such a dumbfuck. you obviously had some built-up irritation towards me that was just waiting to explode and why are you making such a big fucking deal if we disagree about the movies we like?
I'm frankly just SICK AND TIRED of seeing the same script recycled over and over and over again. If that entertains your mind and gives you some sort of freedom from your research and writing your dissertation, then fine. enjoy. But don't fucking tell me that i'm a "psuedo intellect" for liking movies with essence in them. yes, i said essence, did that just shove another stick up your ass? Apocalypse Now was a fucking MASTERPIECE. if you didn't appreciate it, then that sucks for you. we obviously have different tastes.
and don't assume that just cuz I like these types of movies, doesn't mean that I don't like other genres as well. I enjoy my share of the American Pie movies and all that stupid teenage shit. and I loved Zoolander so stfu. they're cool to see once in a while. but my point was that it is the same old movie, over again that gets the most recognition and attracts the bigger audience. and that is sad, whether you want to admit or not.
p.s. my favorite movie is The 'Burbs. and my favorite show is Curb Your Enthusiasm. so don't be so quick to judge, mr. know-it-all.
I don't have any built-in irritation towards you, nor anybody in particular. I just hate pompous assholes, and you tend to provide fine examples of such behaviors occasionally. For example:
What I really liked about it tho was that there was a lot of...umm...social philosophy in it.
Oh really, Mrs. Philosopher? Good for you. Also, you said the box office is an example of just how stupid our culture has become. See, you are the typical pseudo-intellectual, attempting to rise above the rest of the mortals with quick little jabs on the mainstream cultural industry, only to retreat later when someone points out just how snobbish you are.
The films that make it big in the box office may have "essence", and much more so than your pathetic little Apocalypse Now. It's not just because it's a movie about a comic book character, for example, that it will be less interesting than a more "artistic" movie. Actually, now that I think of it, people such as yourself should be glad about the current state of affairs. After all, if your movies with an "essence" were the ones who made it big, you wouldn't be able to use them to set yourself apart from the other, culturally unevolved folks.
So to answer your question, by saying AGAIN that movies that are truly good are the ones who have some "essence" in them, and giving the typical condescending wink to the mainstream, you only manage to convince me even further that you're a fucking sheep whose judgements are based on what is, ironically, perceived by a few jackasses as "intellectually adequate". And it must fucking suck to be you.
