i'm jealous

Why on earth??
Darkness comes like 4 pm every day, it's cold, freezing and windy. You are always tired no matter how much you sleep. :(
There's not even any snow in here and probably won't be much this winter as the prophets say. Or snow comes in March when it should be spring already. Fucking great.

i'm a big fan of winter, cloudy skies, and cold climates. and i still believe lolita's right and the conditions there are a little too extreme to endure for months on end without feeling tired and apathetic.

I like winter too, because i love christmas and candles and it's so beautiful when there's loads and loads of snow everywhere. Though now there's no snow, so this time of the year sucks :erk:
I'm anxiously waiting for summer, but before that i'm anxiously waiting for christmas.

NF: Good. I love being surrounded by lots of beautiful candles :)

I love snow and beautiful white Christmas but now it's all black and harsh. I do like to have different seasons but November is always somewhat depressing time of year. December it will get better I believe. However, 6 months of winter is too much.

Yes, rahvin, and just because of winter we Finns are so apathetic introverts. We have a good reason to be like that. :)
I don't know, the weather sounds like a poor excuse. The winter's beautiful.

So why the high suicide rates in Finland? I reckon that the long, cold and dark winter is not the only issue or reason here but it definitely has something to do with people's state of mind and spirit. Some may say winter is good and beautiful and it is but there's always two sides (or more) to everything.

i have been to finland last new year's eve and i really liked it, though we were not very far up north and still had daylight for several hours. but i don't know if i could endure living there for a whole winter or longer. it's a great experience for someone who isn't familiar with these conditions, but over time i guess it will be depressing.

ah, but we have some 18 degrees here, it's the longest indian summer ever and it makes me happy as a newly hatched bubu. :D i'm no fan of the cold, no sirs.

nf: like i've gone slightly mad. i have an irresistible compulsion towards old blind guardian songs, forgotten albums by saxon and other assorted heavy metal.

i spent a nice evening and watched law and order with a friend :p
i'm afraid my car is slowly going to its death though, the engine seems on the verge of turning off even after several minutes of warming. i love this car. :erk:

Last new year was rubbish for weather though, at least in Helsinki it only snowed a little and it never reached the -20 degC or whatever that I'd been led to expect.

This evening was cold enough for frost (-4 degC according to the BBC), and I was working outside wearing only a thin band shirt (well, plus trousers, pants, socks, shoes), most of the time touching metal that had been out in the cold for hours with my bare hands. That was a tad chilly.

Yep, November is the darkest month of the year, and the least beautiful one.

And i agree that winter definitely has a lot to do with the high suicide rates in Finland. And most suicides happen during winter, so it's pretty obvious i think.

NF: Cold. I'm glad it's friday though.
