I started to learn Swedish, too (but I´m still a beginner), the letters are not really new to me, but some words are hard to pronounce, I hope to get the grip of it soon.

I don´t go out to so many clubs either, but in your case, I don´t think that would be the only chance to practise, I mean, couldn´t you look for other groups that do things you like, such as musicians, or some sports group or such? Everyday speaking is not only to be found at parties.. You could maybe look at the pinboards at the university you wanna go to, or ask the student advisers there anyhow, if there is any kind of group or such to join

I been lazy studying the Swedish language, I must admit it. In the work I usually speak English and with my friends too... I never thought that my English would be an impediment to learn Swedish. I have to study!
