Why cant I marry Lydia in Skyrim? I can marry any of the other people that are made my Housecarls.
It's a glitch, if you have the PC version you can get around it by just activating the quest in the command console.

yeah, i find that is really the thing about it. i am making steady progress on it, and it looks gorgeous. but it really isnt anything new. i paid like 5$ for it on steam. i must say so far it is worth a play through, but i just cant think of anything it does that makes it memorable.
but hey, if they get a little coin to fund doom 4, i am happy to help
