The Greatest Growlers?

Jonas from Katatonia actually has a fantatically deep, strong growl. Probably better for doom than death metal, but its really great. Especially on the October Tide stuff, and live when he does Murder.

My favorite growlers:
Mike Akerfeldt - Opeth
Dan Swano - Edge of Sanity
Tomi Koivusaari - (old) Amorphis
Jorgen Sandstrom - Grave (Soulless is unbelievable!)
David Vincent - Morbid Angel
Steve Tucker - Morbid Angel
Jeff Walker - Carcass
Chris Barnes - Cannibal Corpse (on the bleeding)
Erik Rutan - Hate Eternal
Glen Benton - Deicide/Vital Remains
Mike DiSalvo - Cryptopsy/Infestation

I'm curious if anyone else here was dissapointed that Entombed never used Jorgen's vocal services while he was in the band? It would have been killer to hear Jorgen and LG Petrov trade off vocals. Oh well.

Absolutely! I'm a huge Entombed fan, and that would have been great.
They need a little more death in their music nowadays. Not sure what's going on now that Uffe left.

Most of my favorites have already been mentioned...Mike, the dudes from Suffocation, Cryptopsy, MA, Cult of Luna, Behemoth, etc....Also, the guys from Anata are pretty fucking sick. As are the guys in Psycroptic, Meshuggah, and oddly enough, The Black Dahlia Murder - i'm serious, that guy's death growl is fucking brutal.

Mike is the Best! Then Peter Tagtgren. Mike's growls are insane. My jaw dropped to the floor when I heard him do the very low growls on The Grand Conjuration live......!!!!! JEZUSSS! This guy has three pairs of vocal cords!!!

I also like (early) Nick Holmes and Bart Smit(s?) from the Gathering (the Always album), but these guys can't growl anymore. The most insane Deathscream ever is from Martin van Drunen from Asphyx.

I agree with those three, and also...

Anders Jacobsson - Draconian
Henri Villberg - Rapture
Paul Kuhr - Novembers Doom
Thomas Akim Grønbæk Jensen - Saturnus

About Entombed, i agree that it would be nice to hear some more death metal in their music again. But i doubt that will happen. It was really nice that Bloodbath picked up on the "Sunlight studio-sound", to me Resurrection Through Carnage almost felt like a follow-up to Left Hand Path. :loco:

As much as i dont like him, Dani Filth has such a HUGE range, and while most of his growls are black metal style, he does a pretty damn deep growl from time to time. Also the guy from amon amarth has a good growl.
....you....fucking moron......dani filth's are electronically enhanced.....and...he.sounds...like a....bitch. what a fag.

I heard David Vincent "was once one of the better vocalists out there". but now he "cross dressed and fucks shit up with Genitorturers". He's now known as David "I'm not gay" Vincent.

Yeah, that seems feasible, you fucking invalid faggot. Why don't you just say more shit for the sake of saying it.

HAY EVREYONE LOOK AT ME I AM AUDACIOUSLY OFFENSIVE AND THUS FUNNY.

mmm..... Åkerfeldt is an inspiration to many young newbie deathmetal vocalist. But i consider the formal vocalist from Australias PSYCROPTIC, Mathew Chalk or "Chalky". as he is probably the most unique death vocalist EVER!!!

So go check out some \m/ PSYCROPTIC \m/
