i think it warrants a tag less awkward than "post-rock/hardcore" or whatever (which is essentially what it is) but yeah "post-metal" certainly shouldn't be it. then again post-rock is a fucking retarded genre name too so whatever.

Atmospheric sludge is really the best term for it since most of the bands using the post-rock influences are sludge and they use the post-rock influences for a more atmospheric approach.

I do agree that post-rock is a stupid name for a genre.
