"DIE BY FUCKING ASPHYX"

Asphyx was so much fun. I was in the pit for most of the set, and for once it was a real pit and not some gay circle pit.

Were there dudes everywhere in appropriately obscure metal shirts with long hair and glasses politely throwing the horns and knowing looks at each other?

Seeing all those front row pics reminded me that on the few occasions I did make it to the front row it never really seemed worth the trouble. When you're farther back you're surrounded by people going crazy, and it adds to the atmosphere. In the front row, though, there's just a gap of pavement in front of you before the stage that's occupied mainly by large, bored black dudes in security shirts, and it's a rather awkward juxtaposition with what's going on on-stage.

Plus in order to get front row you pretty much have to skip an hour worth of music beforehand, and it's kind of a waste. I was always able to make second or third row for a show if I cared, and I could see the band well enough from there.
