The Never Ending Now Playing Thread

I think this would be mine…, to be honest only the first six are in a particular order of preference. Solefald, IMO, deserves the first spot, hands down. Rhapsody made an almost-unbelievable comeback, DT and BG are a couple of my favourite bands (both albums are growers, no doubt about that). And I really liked Sigh (more original than the previous IMO) and Borknagar (despite production issues). Winterhorde was a brilliant surprise, and Enslaved created another masterpiece.

01. Solefald: Norrøn Livskunst
02. Rhapsody of Fire: The Frozen Tears of Angels
03. Dark Tranquillity: We Are the Void
04. Blind Guardian: At the Edge of Time
05. Sigh: Scenes from Hell
06. Borknagar: Universal
07. Enslaved: Axioma Ethica Odini
08. Finntroll: Nifelvind
09. Winterhorde: Underwatermoon
10. Orphaned Land: Never Ending Way of OrWarriOR
11. Shining [NOR]: Blackjazz
12. Ihsahn: After
13. Agalloch: Marrow of the Spirit
14. Helloween: Seven Sinners

Haggard: The Observer

So all the stars
Will guide us on our way
The Sextant as a leader
Has duration for all days

Look at the amazing sky
In long and profund discoveries
With a strong and a clear mind he's encryping
Secrets of astronomy

In endless nights
He observes the sky
This publications will change the world

Galileo Galilei

Only what my eyes will see, I will believe!
Day and night - seperated by the light

In Pisa he's required
To teach the theory
That the stars and all the planets
Revolve around the earth
But he believed
In a different truth
The helocentric one
Proposed by Kopernikus
A new age had begun

The stolen sun
Made their fear rise
And man had sacrificed
A shadow was the reason why

And all the servants of the cross - they will deny
Will deny the starlight

In Pisa he's required
To teach the theory
That the stars and all the planets
Revolve around the earth
But he believed
In a different truth
The helocentric one
Proposed by Kopernikus
A new age had begun

Haggard: Eppur si muove

Aside the one in sorrows
To release my darkened mind
And never meant to bought my way to thee
A light that blinds the blind
God end this suffering
My blood and tears that flow for you
My King

My Son, beware...
... of all that your eyes cannot see
Trust your mind
And strengthen your abilities

Did you ever touch the starlight?
Dreamed for a thousand years?
Have you ever seen the beauty
Of a newborn century?

And now's the time to enter
A new way, things to see
Man is just a weak reflection
In evolution's history

And in the hour of darkness
It will guide your way:

La bellezza del paese di Galilei [the beauty of the country of Galilei]

E nella mia ora più buia [and in my darkest hour]
loro splenderanno [they will shine]
per me [for me]
all'infinito [for ever]

As I the one in sorrows
To release my darkened mind
And never to guide my way to thee
A light that blinds the blind
God end this suffering
My blood and tears that flow for you
My King

Geboren im flackernden Kerzenschein [Born in the flickering light of a candle]
Verfasst in dunkler Zeit [Enscripted in dark times]
Ein altes Stück von Pergament [On an old parchment]
Sich mit der Feder vereint [The pen slides]
Der Zeichnung seines Arms entspringt [And from his arm borns]
Der Universen Zelt [The tent of the universe]
Es ist der Zeiten Anbeginn [It is the beginning of the times]
Und ändert diese Welt [And it will change the world]

Des Universums Zelt [The tent of the universe]

Nato al lume guizzante della candela [Born in the flickering light of a candle]
Scritto in tempi oscuri [Enscripted in dark times]
Sulla vecchia pergamena [On an old parchment]
Scorre la penna [The pen slides]
E dal suo braccio nasce [And from his arm borns]
Il disegno delle volte celesti [The design of the celestial times]
È l'inizio dei tempi [It is the beginning of the times]
E cambierà il mondo [And it will change the world]

My son, take care...
Of all what the cross wants you to be
Trust your eyes
And strengthen your abilities

Did you ever touch the starlight?
Dream for a thousand years?
Have you ever seen the beauty
Of a newborn century?

And time has come to doubt
About the holy verse
It is just a weak reflection
In our endless universe

And in your hour of darkness
The beauty guides your way:

La bellezza del paese di Galilei [the beauty of the country of Galilei]

E nella mia ora più buia [and in my darkest hour]
loro splenderanno [they will shine]
splenderanno per me [shine for me]
all'infinito [for ever]

Galileo was "such a smart guy". These are the best times to hear a song like this hahaha ;) .

Turisas, like Eluveitie, Trollfest, Korpiklaani, Alestorm and such are crap. Period. XD

I'm glad I'm not the only one with good taste here :kickass: .

BTW Allfader, have you heard Joe Hisaishi's 2008 Studio Ghibli concert? I immediately thought of you when I listened to it; you should really download it.

Laputa amigo, la gran (La)puta.

I've been listening all my anime OST lately hehe.

I think it's unfair to group Turisas in with those other groups. The Varangian Way is a fantastic record. Really solid musically, heavy, interesting conceptually. While I like one Eluveitie record alright, I still don't think it's fair to group them like that.

Especially because Turisas is basically orchestral progressive metal. And the new one is growing on me, but it's still not The Varangian Way.

Mortiis - Closer To The End
Perfectly Defect (2010)

I so can not wait to see them in on tour February!!

On cd? yes.
but live, I really enjoyed Eluvitie, Korpiklaani and Alestorm :headbang:

Oh yeah new Mortiis is good, I really liked it (should listen to it again).

I disagree, I saw Korpiklaani in Canada and… they sucked, big time. Tyr was much, much better. Since they're a better band, obviously.

I think Eluvitie has some good songs, as so does Korpiklaani. But the latter had so much talent and sold-out so quickly that I totally lost my respect for the band. Only their first two records are OK, the rest is total rubbish. They've been releasing an album each year (or so) for the past what, eight or nine years? And you can see the quality decrease in each one, to the point in which I haven't bothered to listen to any of their albums in more than five years.

And yes, I hate Korpiklaani.

^ Nice! Did you see the video I posted? Bloody brilliant.

Shining - Ohm (Sommar Med Siv)

So awesome.

:headbang: yeah! I love the simpleness of the guitar. Shining has now been one of my favourite bands for quite some time.

But hey I just noticed something: The Klagopsalmer that I had in my iTunes is different from the one in Metal-archives. The cover's different too; I think I downloaded a promo/erroneous (?) version of the CD.

By the way, if you like Ohm by Shining you should check out the original by my favorite band, Seigmen.
