The Official Band/Project/Whatever (yours or anyones) Promotion Thread

My friends in Mutiny started a thread on the Children of Bodom forum to see what COB song people would want them to cover (ANY song) on video. So I figured I would mention this here, if you are interested in leaving a suggestion for a song, go to: http://www.ultimatemetal.com/forum/...ildren-bodom-song-would-you-like-covered.html

Eventually, the plan is to do the same thing on this forum for a Symphony X song, but let's take this one step at a time :)

My favorite dual-guitar team at the moment is Jeff Loomis and Steve Smyth (or Chris Broderick) in Nevermore. They don't overuse the twin lead harmonies like so many duos do, and are more complimentary to each other in their parts.

Chris Broderick is far better than Smyth IMO. He's a much better guitarist technically, and he still is able to put feeling into a solo while shredding it the fuck up. one of the greats, plus just a fucking nice dude.

I prefer Chris Broderick, but yeah, Nevermore have a great dual-guitar sound, probably the best for an actual band... Most others are just solo guitarists with another solo guitarist harmonizing their stuff... eg. Vai/MacAlpine, Friedman/Jarzombek, Gilbert/Bouillet etc.

That's why my band got someone who's of equal, if not better skill than I to play 2nd guitar for us. I use the two guitarist thing to my advantage whenever I can. I consider writing those parts to be a test for myself, because I don't just do parallel 5ths or 3rds. i try to let each do its own thing, and I test each note to see if it fits with what the other guitar is playing. Very time consuming, but the finished product is definitely worth it.

Yeah, that's good, my mate who's name is Loy and is Indian, is a lot better than me at soloing, but I write better riffs and songs etc., so we complement each other well, but we're both good enough to trade solos and contribute to make a killer song... (we think anyway...) W don't really do parallel 5ths and
3rds except in the actual riffing (doing diminished runs minor 3rds apart sounds awesome!!! :headbang: but in the actual solos/melodys, it is very contrapunctual (completely separate melodies which fit together to sound awesome), so that's pretty cool... We've gotta practice heaps more together, cos I've never really had someone to jam with before now... It's pretty exciting! :D

Not really. If you've seen the local bands here, you would say the same exact thing. There are 2 kids I know that are actually better than me around here, but one doesn't like "shred" style of playing and the other one just doesn't like our kind of music. Oh well.

You use the ":erk: " way to much d00d.
I do that on purpose. It's my favorite smiley.

If you're that young, yet you look like you do in the photo you posted a while ago... :zombie: You need serious medical attention mate... :p
I find offense to that! That photo isn't a very good representation of how I look, though.

Come on man, if you want us to believe you're the same age as us, then don't post photos that don't give a good representation of you... BTW the photo didn't look that bad if it was an adult, but if you were our age and looked like that...

Anyway, don't take offense, I know you were only mucking around... :D
