Crazy instrumental, tech-metal, I'll definately be keeping a look out for this one...

I'm promoting the band in my signature (A.C.T.). Very unique band.

^ behold... the arctopus is an awesome band, I'd recommend them aswell for anyone who enjoys aventgarde/technical death metal.

We're opening for Macabre in April! If you're near Pittsburgh, and you like them (or if you like thrash), come check it out. I don't really listen to Macabre, but it should be a cool time.

Also on the bill is my favorite local metal band Crown the Lost, who were a big hit in that "favorite local band" thread a few weeks back. They're a sort of thrashy but somewhat prog band, with a really awesome singer and lead guitarist. Too bad their old drummer just joined Job for a Cowboy. Lame.

Hey guys, I'm a big Symphony X fan, have been ever since I heard out of the ashes on game network about four years ago.

I never usually post up links to bands cos I don't want to be spamming boards, but this is an official thread so here goes:

We're an Irish progressive power metal band with neo classical influences - two lead guitarists and a keyboard player. We have only been together for a few months and we are still looking for a singer (so we are hoping to find one soon!).

Check out our myspace: http://www.myspace.com/crystalsnowstorm

Give the first song a full listen - once it hits around 4.30 it goes into full on attack mode, so let us know what you think. I also personally think the second song rocks too :headbang:

Be really interested to hear what you guys think!

Neoclassical influence? I'll be checking it out later when I have a few minutes to listen!

Edit: Okay, I made time. You guys kick ass. Friend request from Meltdown on the way so we can keep in touch better. Great playing on all fronts.

Thanks guys, we've only just got going so any feedback is hugely appreciated!

btw, just in case you were wondering, those are live recordings - actually surprising how good a mix we got out of a crappy Philips mic worth about $50!

Just checked out Meltdown - very good thrash. I particularly like your singing style, it's rare to hear an actual singer in thrash today. Cool stuff.

Wow that crystal concerto song is pretty fuckin crazy. If you are planning on adding vocals it would be pretty cool, otherwise its maybe a little too repetitive. OMG I'm up to the solo's :D...... very nice!! So yeh... if u added maybe another theme somewhere just to break it up a bit then I reckon that'd go down really well. lol the solo's are still goin. Ok I think it would be safe to say that I would REALLY not like to cover your songs cos my hands would probably fall off by the end .

You cant imagine how stressful it is to try and actually do it all in a row live! We only got that whole solo section together a few weeks ago so it doesn't come naturally yet. It's our only song where we really go that over the top, normally it's just one solo each! Glad you guys like our stuff, it's cool to get some feedback after weeks of playing in a room on our own. :headbang:

New Meltdown songs uploaded. Premixes from our album. I promise the album is sounding much better.

Also, we played with two very cool bands last night, so I thought I'd pass them along.
Oh Shit They're Going to Kill Us Crazy thrash/punk, really good musicians. And Argus, a kind of doomy, sorta proggy band with a really killer singer. Also really skilled musicians. Their drummer and bassist were locked in like nobody's business.

Awesome, it'll help keep me busy for Symphony X, Dream Theater and all the other billion bands releasing albums this year, :headbang:

You get a free copy of the OBP demo in return after it's done.

Speaking of...Matt, any updates?? I thought I read somewhere that Jens would be tracking vocals in February...how's all that going?

It got pushed back a bit. He's actually gonna start tracking next week I believe.

In other news...the remastered edition of Distant Tides is for sale now!

http://www.darkempire.nu/

Just click on "Merchland." It goes via paypal, and we ship worldwide. Its retailing for $12 (webmaster forgot to put that on the page, but it shows up when you click the paypal button).

This is the version that recently was released in Brazil on Rock Machine records. It is our first official label release of our debut album, and as such, was remastered by Mika Jussila at Finnvox studios in Finland (known for mastering bands such as Children of Bodom, Nightwish, Stratovarius, and Sonata Arctica, among others). It features a bonus track not found on the original self-release, and revised artwork as well.

Gigantic, huge, enormous thanks to our merch guy Glenn Fitzgerald (who some of your Progpower attendees might know as the guy at the Inside/Out booth, and some of you SymX fans might know as the SymX merch guy ;) ) for setting things up for us!
