The Official Doom Thread

I guess what I mean is that Doom is so steeped in Christian themes (or alternately in Occultism) that it seems weird to hear a Doom song about Odin and Norse mythology. It's not like these crossovers don't happen all the time though. I've put Solstice, Isole, Ereb Altor, and Scald on my list to investigate.

No weirder than Satanic doom metal bands (of which there are tons).
 
At least Christianity and satanism are in the same spiritual cosmos so to speak, though it is definitely weird considering the lyrical themes with which the genre originated which contain a lot warnings against evil.

But then again I listen to Christian black metal so hey.
 
I've soured on a lot of new doom metal recently. It's just so stagnant.

New Ogre is solid, but better than Neanderthal, imo. There are some great songs, but two stinkers (one a cover), unfortunately
