I watched Adolescence today. Fuck that was a good show.

Just seems odd trying to tie the theme in with current events in the UK, which has so much white-on-minorities violence going on, as everybody knows.

I think it's about a white kid who kills another white kid. What I'm curious about is why everyone is so up in arms over it.

I've just started watching the latest series of The Righteous Gemstones.
Religion has always had it's fair share of dicks, but Baby Billy is a one man dick show!
Megan Mullally and John Goodman getting caught having a munch was hilarious.

They ended that show strong, the last season might be my favourite tbh. Rooker killed it too.

The first episode of S4 was a bit boring, I understand the idea and as I haven't seen the full series yet maybe more of it's explained later. But since then they have definitely kept up with the stupid antics and ridiculous behaviour. Half way through S4 and I think they have more in them but apparently HBO haven't shown interest in another series.

McBride specifically said he wrote this season to be the last, so I'm guessing he wanted to end it before the ideas got stale. Apparently he has a vampire show ready to go but HBO aren't biting.

Yeah I read that but I also read today that while he's done it that way if there is a story to tell he'll tell it. So I'm figuring he's keeping his options open for future ideas that may come to him as a Gemstone story or a character spin off.

It is a pity that was the last season, but they did go out on a high and there is always a risk that another season could flop.

Been watching the old Miami Vice series lately. I'd only ever seen clips over the years but I'm enjoying it more than I expected, even knowing Mann handled it didn't really prepare me for how good it is. Well, the first 5 eps so far anyway.

I know this is yesterday's news, but I've been rewatching Guillermo del Toro's Cabinet of Curiosities, and mostly I'm moderately entertained, if not always super impressed. It's a lot of strong offerings that don't quite achieve the level of really superb filmmaking, in my opinion. Stuff sort of lingers in the B-reel range, usually tending toward the expertly crafted but not always reaching it. BUT...

Holy shit, Panos Cosmatos's "The Viewing" is just fucking awesome. I watched it back when the series first came out and rewatched it last night. It's so good, an unpretentious mix of retro visual vibes and political commentary, some bonkers characters and dialogue, and a wild conclusion. Love to see Peter Weller in a role that totally suits him. People here probably know I'm a Cosmatos stan, but he is a visionary horror filmmaker, so stylized and luxuriant. Between the opulent drug use and cosmic weirdness of the episode's finale, it's superb. Highly recommend, even if you skip the rest of the series (although I'd also recommend "Lot 36" and "The Autopsy," both really good short-form stories.
