The official UMOS NWOBHM tread!!

How did I came into the NWOBHM scene? Well actual true metalfan.nl. I love thrash and I also like heavy metal. So I started to look arround in the NWOBHM topic and listended to Blitzkrieg, Satan, Avenger and go on and on, and this was this year.
Lucky for me, there was an upcoming event, in Hoorn with bands like Witchfynde, Avenger, Blitzkrieg and Conquest of Steel and now I still have to listen to a lot of bands.

Well you don't look a day older than 25 looking at your pics, which means you learn to headbang in your cradle ;)

Besides it's the spiritual age what counts :D

I probably got started the same time Hawk did. I remember seeing a Kerrang!
magazine in a non-corporate record shop, Don't know what caught my eye,
possibly an Ian Gillan cover? Issue #7 maybe? Damn, it's been a while!
I liked just about everything from Saxon to Maiden to Def Leppard and everything else in between. Hell, I remember the Tygers of Pan Tang before Sykes was in the band... This particular record store also carried TONS of imports. More than any store in the area. At that point, I was beyond hooked! While I was doing some cleaning, I found my "Trooper" giant Denim patch, as well as my Beast On The Road patch from '82. I hadn't seen those for YEARS... I think in a box somewhere I have an old denim with NoTB on the back.....I bet it doesn't fit me now! As for Leppard, I agree that they started going downhill with Pyromania. The first 2 are classic, and I still play Wasted when I have time to fiddle around with the guitar :Spin:

Sounds really similar to my experiences. The record shop I used to frequent back then is still around, but I don't go there much, as I (like everyone) buy most everything over the net. I used to love going into the shop and picking up the new copy of Kerrang, Metal Forces or any number of other metal/underground mags. I used to but anything, and everything, that even remotely looked 'metal' back then. With the price of vinyl, back then, you could take a chance on a blind purchase. Ah, the good old days.

Def Leppard ceased to exist after 'Pyro'...for me. 'High N Dry', though, is still one of the best hard rock albums ever made!

I guess Kerrang pretty much sucks now from what I've heard/read. haven't seen a copy of that mag for years! I'll have to see if I have any stashed away. I remember HATING to buy Circus magazine for the ONE page interview
with a decent band, and the rest of the mag being fluff. Kerrang used to report on almost everything I listened to back then, it was almost like it was custom made for my tastes. Yeah, it was a LOT easier to risk 6-8 dollars on a record than 15-30 on a cd.... Ahhh the good ol' days! :)
