Pretty underwhelming year in metal, the only metal albums that come to mind that I really enjoyed are

When your list of "Best of a 2012..." contains 36 entries I suspect you are a bit indecisive. A best of list with 3 albums/month? Really?

I was mostly thinking about the guy above my post when I posted that. You actually counted my list?
Hey man, please don't imply that I'm not hunting out new shit to listen to or ignorant bout what's out there. I bought a bunch of those albums on your list too - Testament, Kreator, Abigail Williams & Terrorizer were all GOOD albums, and I haven't had time to listen properly to Gojira, Cattle Decap or The Faceless. And They Art's "Hate" has been spinning for the last two hours coz I only got it this morning.
It's my personal opinion that Cannibal & PD were the best albums to come out this year - which was the point of this thread. If it was a "what shit did you like/buy this year" thread I would be posting a much longer list.
I'll defs check out the rest of yours list tho, could be some things I've missed. Thanks.

didn't like the songs very much except for demented aggression but the guitar tone is the most crushing of all albums I've ever heard.

Ihsahn's Eremita is great, on the second place probably Testament's Dark Roots of Evil.

Also late to the party but very strong contender: Slice The Cake - Other Slices. Damn how do they do it, two such good albums in one year.

The Odious - Joint Ventures is actually a pretty fucking amazing album too. Fans of BTBAM (they sound like a good BTBAM to me haha) should DEFINITELY check it out!
