things you hate with a passion

Go away. I already don't like you.

I can't understand this -- and it certainly isn't a fact, because you have created the explanation out of thin air -- because the negative aspects of Christianity pale in comparison to those of other organisations and individuals.

You can't understand that, because something is associated with negative things, it stands to reason that people recall said negative things when discussing said thing...because other things are worse? That is pretty goddamn stupid and makes no sense.

Heaven is a permanent concept. What of it is not final?

This is problematic for a lot of reasons, but the biggest one to me and many others is the hilarious fact that you have no evidence or explainable intuition to back up this ridiculous claim.

Emotion and intuition are both potentially just as valid as pure reason.

Not when it comes to science (aka knowledge of the perceivable world), sorry.

If the unfolding of life doesn't change your beliefs at least now and again then you are probably very shut down and arrogant in your way of thinking. I know humans are obsessed with consistency but being open to change is an essential aspect of pesonal growth.

The unfolding of my life has had an effect on my beliefs insofar that it has erased any reason for me to believe in a higher power or an afterlife.

True. I don't spend half my time worrying about it though tbh because of my spiritual beliefs. I do my thing, I am ready for worst case scenarios though.

I don't push my beliefs on my friends, I will talk to anyone who brings up relevant conversations of course though, but I won't bring it up since I know most people don't care anyway.

Dodens likes to always talk about "what can be seen", and what I can look around and see is people drifting through life with no purpose other than to have a more fun weekend this weekend than last weekend until they die and it's all over. Lives are all fucked up and full of drama.

I do not have these problems, nor am I depressed about what the future holds even though my actual expectation of short-term quality of life is much lower than most people.

Your interests fuel your paranoia and sense of difference between yourself and the world around you. If you consider 'what can be seen' to be a valid basis for arriving at beliefs (primitive as it is:)) then you should disregard these paranoia-fuelled conspiracy theories altogether, as they are essentially severe conclusive inferences from what cannot be seen -- which is why they are impossible to disprove :).

The internet has allowed batshit crazy people to come together and reaffirm eachother's pathologies.

Go away. I already don't like you.

It's funny how being courteous is more offensive around here than being aggressive and unpleasant.

If there are things you consider worse than Christianity then it is natural for me to think that you would have responded to this 'hate' thread with something other than Christianity...because you hate other things more. I think this is an easy train of thought to ride personally.

This is problematic for a lot of reasons, but the biggest one to me and many others is the hilarious fact that you have no evidence or explainable intuition to back up this ridiculous claim.
I referred to the theological concept of heaven. A concept does not have to be real as I hope you understand. The discussion is about whether Dodens Grav would want heaven, and has nothing to do with whether the theological concept itself can be proven or disproven (here's a hint, it cannot be proven and is not supposed to be).

Not when it comes to science (aka knowledge of the perceivable world), sorry.
Firstly, we are dealing with Dodens Grav's reality, not science. I'm not sure where science comes into it. By the way, knowledge of the perceivable world and science are two totally separate things and the former has no dependence on the latter.

The unfolding of my life has had an effect on my beliefs insofar that it has erased any reason for me to believe in a higher power or an afterlife.

And presumably you can agree that further unfolding may produce reasons for you to believe in these things.

edit: Joe, your posting contributions are far more trollish and inflammatory than mine. :)

as they are essentially severe conclusive inferences from what cannot be seen -- which is why they are impossible to disprove :)..

Tee hee, you're so fucking cute. A Rockefeller is clearly visible and observable, and the Illuminati and other secret societies have been documented throughout the course of history, and Dakryn's conspiracy theories are just as legitimate as the claims you've made about Christianity. Because they are deductions, not observations.

 I'm still surprised this entire conversation has come from you completely misunderstanding the context of this thread.

Yep :)
I'm surprised I'm still around.

It's funny how being courteous is more offensive around here than being aggressive and unpleasant.

It's being courteous in that cunt kinda way, by the smug guy, who thinks he's superior and gives you that little grin to try and put you in your place.

EDIT2: Ib4 "Sorry it seemed that way, maybe you've experience things like that yourself and misunderstood me :)"

Where are my epic high-five jpgs.....

By the way, implying that intuition has no place in science would be very unwise. You need only look to Galileo and Einstein to see this.

The sort of claims Darkyn has given credence to are far from the kind of valid ambiguous skepticism surrounding Rockefeller et al. Many things have been 'documented throughout the course of history' which have no bearing in reality; is this really an argument? I have made no claims about Christianity other than what truly exists in their ideology. Even if I had, my points to Darkyn remain valid.

Darkyn, I'm sure you can speak up for yourself rather than relying on this foolhardy chap's cumbersome support. :)

Joe, you are quite right in your facetious response about the smiling. It's a smile, enjoy it. :)

Much of modern Christianity's "idealogies" don't even line up with the Bible, so I don't really see the point in your arguements, and understand the dislike by the average forum goer here of religion in general, but christianity specifically.

Popular history is written by the victors/people in power, so who is to say what is bullshit?

Also, it's Dakryn.

Again, I have referred to Christianity's conception of heaven with regard to Dodens Grav's points about immortality. I am sorry some of you guys are having so much trouble following the thread.

Sorry for getting your name wrong and you are quite correct yet irrelevant with your point about history.

Constantine worshipped Mithras according everything I read. Good facade though. Kind of like some other leaders in history.

@Ink: How is my point correct yet irrelevant? I find it quite relevant.

Also, the fact that you even brought heaven into a debate about Christianity/"afterlife" shows that you don't know what you're talking about. Heaven is relativily insignificant in the Bible for humans (as I posted elsewhere on this board recently).

It is a common misconception, but a misconception none-the-less.

Racism.

Fucking hate it beyond belief.

It has to be the most stupid reason for hating another human, becuase of their colour or culture.

I mean for fucks sake people don't get a bloody choice in the matter, so why hate someone for something that can't be helped?

I always remember this smart arse neo-nazi skin head having a go at me once for being a white fella dating an asian lady, he thought he was the greatest thing being a white supremacist knob.

I knew the dumb shit would never listen to reason, so I fucking wrapped his head around the nearest light pole.

I got in a bit of trouble with the copse for cracking the blokes skull, but they let me off because they hate those dicks as well.

I always love to have a go at them, the nazi's and the KKK and the low-life unemployed fucks who think their problems are to be blamed on Asian/Indian/African and other ethnic types.

Racism is the most fucking stupid thing to beleive in or support in the world and I happily punch the fuck out of anyone who supports that, or hatred for others things such as disabilty or religion.

Take your fucking hatred for such things and shove it so far up your dumb arse that you haemorage yourself and bleed to deah in agony.

And the right-wing fascist metal bands, fucking would love to see them for real and carve them up with big fucking bowie knife!

Rape.

I beleive rape is worse than murder because at least with murder the victim doesn't have to live with the suffering of what they have been put through, the mental and physical anguish and pain.

Again, a girl I knew got raped years ago out side a club in Melbourne Australia by the secuirty guards.

I know one of theguards to this day has a knew understanding of retribution.

I think any person who commits rape on a woman or man at any age should be taken out in the street and shot in the head like the fucking dog that they are.

I'd happily put my hand up to pull the trigger for everyone of the fuckers.

- Christians who make bias arguments devoid of reason (aka most of them).

- Guys who wear sandals.

- 99% of current film. It's becoming more and more superficial with CGI being abused and actors having typical, lame, and almost celebrity-like personalities.

- Sports. Well, I don't know if I'd say I hate them but I honestly can't sit through an entire game. I also think they make an absurd income for the simple act of moving a ball across the field, court, etc.

- People trying to "revert back to their childhood" by watching and talking about Disney movies. I watched those movies when I was a child for a reason. They're movies made for children.

- The stupid resergence of interest in DC and Marvel super heroes and the ridiculous amount of un-inspired movies coming out based on these lame characters. I can't stand bland, moralistic, "good wins over evil" bullshit like this.

- Constantly running into people claiming to be into metal, getting me all excited, and then forcing me to pretend I give a shit as they name off typical modern bands that I don't like.
