thrash metal

Oddly, I have a hankering to listen to Acid Reign. Thus inspired, I hunt out my only music by them - on a battered old C90. Annoyingly, this seems to be warped to unholy fuck.

Just tried tracking their shit down through Amazon. £100 for one of their CDs ?

Holy fuck, they were shit back then. Hmmm....Methinks some ebay action is required.

a paddy wannabe to me is a drunk irish immigrant... at least that is somewhat the definition of it when there was racism against irish people in the late 1800's in the U.S. ... I could be wrong so don't quote me on that...

no...he was comparing Fisco to a poster on here known as metal_paddy. Him and fisco share similar typing styles

I have a feeling that the vast majority of people who don't particularly care for Thrash got into extreme metal immediately and didn't go through the heavy/power/speed to thrash to extreme transition as most people have. They also probably haven't dug very deeply either.

Yup, sadly I am one of those people and I have been paying for it ever since. :Smug:

I was first exposed to metal through Death metal and got really deep into it. I never came up for air.

I started listening to black metal around a year ago and thrash seems almost foreign to me.

I do know what thrash is but I really never gave it a "real" chance.

I am a huge fan of Slayer and Testament though.

If anyone has any recommendations I'm all ears man.

old Metallica
old Megadeth
old Anthrax (i'm not a big fan of theirs but others are)
Sacred Reich
Nuclear Assault
Exodus
Forbidden
Dark Angel
Destruction
Whiplash
DRI (Crossover and after that)
Vio-Lence
Sodom
Kreator
Flotsam & Jetsam

These are the more popular ones from the 80's though there are other ones lesser known that Nectarul can fill you in... I might of missed a popular name or two... but those can get you started... if you want more specifics as to which albums to start off with let us know...

ahh yeah i remember Metal Paddy... where he go anyways? haven't seen him in awhile... but the thing with Metal Paddy was he was actually understandable when he typed... but it is a play on being Irish either way...

He left because he hates me. Good riddance.

I liked paddy, but then I found him amusing. Plus, he did know quite a bit about the Nwobhm if you ever got him talking. Sure, the guy was idiosyncratic, but then, aren't we all ?

EDIT: The thing is, that without exception, I have grown to at least tolerate every poster on the board. At some point or another, several people have pissed me off, but given time they all seem to mellow and become at least sporaducally useful posters.

Fuck the crying posers in the thrash metal thread

THRASH METAL TERROR FUCK OFF THE REST

I just listened to that Dissection (Can) - Final Genocide LP and it's fucking great, no frills, balls out Canadian Thrash Metal, somewhere in between later Sacrifice, Razor, and earlier Voivod, with a singer that ranges from a screechier Beccera to Ron Rhinehart with balls.

Wait, Ron Rhinehart was a eunuch ?
