This thread is about Thrash Metal anyway, not Crossover, that can be an entirely different topic.

Thrash is my favorite genre of metal.

Speaking of which, I just got Kreator - Endless Pain and Anthrax - Among The Living, both are awesome albums.

Yes, this is exactly what I'm trying to avoid. Now that I've gotten over the genre's stigma, I'm ready to delve.

uh, this genre has never had any stigma wtf? :erk:

but if you haven't, I would suggest you still check out slayer (Show no mercy, RIB, south of heaven), megadeth (rust in peace), and metallica's (ride the lightning, master of puppets) best albums as they are excellent thrash

beyond that, I would suggest looking here http://www.ultimatemetal.com/forum/...albums-ever.html?highlight=best+thrash+albums

I'm starting to get interested in old school underground thrash, so someone please send me a list of bands worth checking out or link me to one of your top lists so I don't have to cavort through this thread.

kreator
destruction
sodom
exumer
darkness(ger) :headbang:
bulldozer(italy)
flotsam & jetsam
sacrifice
whiplash
cyclone
ulysses siren
artillery
toxik
realm
xentrix
paradox
rigor mortis

i can personally vouch for all of those

wow. im sure that he did not know any of those bands.!

well, he said that he was not a thrash fan at all, so I doubt he has taken the time to appreciate those classics

oh yea, don't forget sepultura - arise/beneath the remains (especially BTR), awesome thrash :kickass:

Well, for me, thrash has a stigma of lacking any depth beyond instrumental virtuosity and being devoid of decent songwriting. However, because of my recent obsession with grindcore and brutal death, I have become more attracted to it.

This is EXACTLY what I was looking for, thanks. :)
