whats with all the hate on this board towards thrash? most people on here are black/death/power metal fans and dislike thrash. whats everyone's reason for disliking it? I happen to like it and as a matter of fact, black metal and death metal wouldn't exist without thrash's influence.

Agreed thrash is boring and is a dying genre which i am contributing to by not buying albums. mwhahahahaahha

I love thrash. I respect thrashmusicians. I don´t respect the blackmetalgenre of today - badgerpop. I would happily be more interested to find out if there´s anything worth listening to, if it wasnt for that genres most ridiculous image. It reminds me too much of the 80´s hairmetalbands - all about image. I guess, in a decade or so, that genre will be ridiculed just as much as the hairmetalbands was (and still are).
So if any blackmetalfans get offended by my opinions - your´e welcome!

You're a fucking moron if you think it is all about the image, plus consider this - (and I hate myself because I'm going to sound like the people I so despise) but the image in many ways can be an integral part of black metal for in some cases it could enable to musicians to more easily create and bring out the persona with which they craft their music.

I really don't care about the BM band's image... i listen to them for the music and BM has been around since the early 80's in some form or another so I don't see it fading away or being ridiculed like the hair bands... BM fans for the most part are diehard and loyal unlike the Hair Metal fans who outgrow it and move on... there is plenty worth listening to in Black Metal.. try these for starters:

Emperor: In the Nightside Eclipse
Anthems at the Welkin at Dusk

Immortal: At The Heart of Winter

Darkthrone: Transylvanian Hunger

Satyricon: Dark Medievel Times

Well Kreator is an obvious band, and I was responding to Hatebreeder's request for less than obvious bands. Nuclear Assault and the first from Testament and Death Angel maybe. Dark Angel was on my list. The rest I don't rank very highly.

Like I said - your´e welcome! You may consider me a moron or just anything else, but that doesn´t make me change my mind.

Well in response to your post, felidae, the "imagery" was just as important to Thrash Metal as it was to Black Metal, and the Thrash Metal resurgence of late has made a mockery of the past, whatwith a legion of ne'erdowells trouncing about clad in their faded blue denim vests filled with patches and buttons of bands they've never heard and hideous white converse shoes with the tightest pairs of (torn, of course) faded blue jeans one can possibly find. So Black Metal is certainly not unique regarding the importance of imagery.

I´m aware of BM´s origin. I didn´t say i dislike Venom or Bathory and I would´t call them today´s BM. I love Venom and like Bathory. I´ve heard Satyricon and I wouldn´t call them todays BM either. As far as I know they are the oldest norwegian BM-band, right? I liked how they sounded before - today.

We'll what is obvious to us may not be obvious to him since he is a thrash newbie and he may not know these bands or know them but never heard them. As for our tastes. We have some differences in tastes in thrash and some that are same but does not mean he wouldn't like both our picks.

Of course image is not unique. But is it fair to compare a look worn by many during the 80´s with something you wouldn´t wear on the streets at midday? Or do you really know people who put on black and white makeup before going to an ordinary job?
And people who wear buttons and patches of band they´ve never heard of aren´t exactly what I would call real fans.

Nice! The tracks sound good and heavy. Also that's pretty fricken sweet you were able to get Flemming Rasmussen to produce your album. congrats!
