The genre you recall is applied to bands like ANATHEMA, KATATONIA, OPETH.. etc. Guess "emo" is as adequate as other names, e.g. "brutal death metal" (Chris Barnes's brutality and my belly trembles intensively). Each kind of music is emotionally evoked. However, the thing in "emo" music is to show despair, melancholy, suffering from loss, anxiety and other feelings of the weak. In other words: "to moan", "to mew" or "ee.. moo..". Confusingly, maybe that's the reason for spelling it "ee-mow".Light said:I know there's a music genre called "emo", although fuck knows what it is, but that's pronounced "ee-mow", no? I always heard "ammo" (ie. ammunition) in this song, and since I can't read, I never checked up on it
Sorry, you're wrong. I think "emo" is an "emotional" derivative of punk rock. I know the term definitely does not apply to Anathema, Katatonia, Opeth or indeed any metal, though.yv said:The genre you recall is applied to bands like ANATHEMA, KATATONIA, OPETH.. etc. Guess "emo" is as adequate as other names, e.g. "brutal death metal" (Chris Barnes's brutality and my belly trembles intensively). I heard "emo" abbr from the beginning. The word "emotions" fits the whole lyric like a glove.
