kinda surprised by those picks. Soulside is undeniably good, and WFIKTBD is by all account a good album as well (like TRITSIO I imagine it takes some time to get into) but better than BATS or Altars Of Madness?

by miles, for me. although i dunno if soulside is quite a top 5 album in retrospect, and WFIKTBD is sort of carried by the absolutely spellbinding brilliance of the first half (and don't get me wrong, the rest is mostly great itself), which stands as my favourite work from my favourite metal band. very much an acquired taste though i'll grant ye, even more inaccessible than TRITSIO, but even more otherworldly and savagely poetic.

Altars of Madness is quite an album but The Red in the Sky is Ours is a whole different beast. In other words, I would never be able to decide between the two.
