US Bands You Should Hear

Someone posted about them on the Opeth board so we could all get a good laugh. Damn that shit was hilarious. There was another band mentioned on the thread that was actually worse...the cauze or something like that. You actually like this Slitheryn band? It just surprises me since you mention a lot of real metal bands in the same breath.

The CD that I heard was their brand new one which is quite good. I try not to be so narrow minded and pigeonhole my musical taste to one style. Obviously this person who posted on the Opeth board is NOT a fan of any other style of metal other than progressive death or he wouldn't have been so narrow minded.

So being from Utah have you heard of or seen Katagory V?

I met Dustin, thier bassist at Prog Power Festival last year in Atlanta. Their CD is really cool. Very progressive.

BTW, I've never heard of the Cause either. Might have to check em out.

John

Yeah, I know Dustin. I met him via the Watchtower board. I went to their last show; the new material is really good, much better than the debut. As far as Slytherin, I don't really think it was a matter of pigeonholing tastes (especially for me, since I listen to most forms of metal), it was just a fact that they sucked. It wasn't their new CD, though, it was older stuff. Maybe they got better...who knows...but the old stuff was really hilarious shit. Believe me, you don't want to hear The Cauze....really, you don't.

I'll take your word for it about the CAuze. I haven't heard Slitheryn old stuff but considering they were about 12 and 13 when it was recorded in 2000 i'm sure it wasn't that good. The new material is really good and the funny thing is I don't like Slipknot or Static X, two bands they've been compared to.

Yeah, I like the Katagory V stuff to. Dustin sent some demo clips. I'd like to check it out live, It sounds much darker, more technical that the debut.

I can't believe no one mentioned Absu! Absu is a killer American Black Metal band to check out. Proscriptor is one of the most psychotic drummers in metal.

Phuk'n Metal. Hands down the best out there. They just finished mastering their first album "Speed of Lint". Should be hitting the streets in about a month. Be on the lookout. Seriously. These guys fucking rock balls!

i'm totally like their music.....with some a little bit of grindcore style that will grind off all the bastard!!!yes,i'm bgun to freak of them when they bring a song from CANNIBAL CORPSE's song called born in the casket as their cover song (actually,it was taken from tribute to cannibal corpse that i know never release before...)....and not only that, the first album that i listen from then are called "killin in adrenaline"...totally awesome dudes....but it is hard to find their stuff in my country...i hope oneday, some of you can lend me their album......hahahahahahahah...what da' fucking joke...!!!

Yeah your right, I should respect their taste but it's such a easy target

The thing is I can tolerate and even like some death metal (granted more melodic or atmospheric stuff and even like stuff like Dimmu Borgir, Tristania, Trail of Tears but stuff like Dying Fetus, Obscenity, Napalm Death, just doesn't cut it for me.

Yeah right Dustin...I'll believe it when I see it  Nah, it's all cool. Actually I'd prefer that you start filling in details before you continue on with the bands. I'm on N currently, but I'm going backwards.

Here's my list of up-and-coming US bands that rule. I probably already mentioned some but I'm too lazy to go back and see what I said. So, here's the cream of the crap, or at least some great ones that are still kind of early in their careers:

Actual Time
Antithesis
Archetype
Corum
Gracepoint
Into Eternity (really Canadian, but it's like the 51st state, so we'll count 'em)
Katagory V
Prototype
Zero Hour

Shit, I'm forgetting some, but those are all great.

p/s:respect is the most important....
