@pieter: have you tried "fricassee'" with quorn and mushrooms? veeeery nice!

mmmmmhhmmm! that's my favorite!
italian quorn is nice too, spicy
be aware for veggie diehards who refuse to eat quorn as it's somehow canceric

(best meals: wok with rice, throw in all veggies available (especially weird ones from chinese shops) add coconut milk, fresh ginger, cumin, coriander)

Well,
get some butter, or marg, (preferably Irish Butter) and add some crushes garlic. Make some toast spread it on and pop either in the over or under the grill, (low heat) for a little bit to melt it..dead cheap but lovely....to start off

Sorry, but you're wrong. While he admits to taking steroids, he stopped taking them in '61. He's 73 now and still works out. Most of the pictures of him that are floating around are from when he was in his 40's and 50's. The guy won Mr. Universe in 4 times, 2 of which where 6 and 10 years after dropping the steroids. A few years later he dropped his weight down to like 185 to be a pro-bicylist, and when he got sick of that he got back up to like 225. He's no fucking joke.

If everyone doesnt mind, just why are you vegetarians? It seems to me that to be a vegetarian one has to believe in God, or some divine order, other wise what is the point, as nature supports the eating of meat, human evolution and our social development is based on hunting. It seems that vegetarianism is something one only thinks of, if they are a rich overfed, supposedly spiritual westerner. Besided Indians, I think the question of vegetarianism is a non issue in most countries and cultures. I'm just raising this question, I really dont care if one is a vegatarian or not, Im just wondering why one is a vegetarian. How could one go without the goodness of a nice medium rare steak- life doesnt get any better than that.

As a bodybuilder myself, didnt pearl drink massive quantities of milk? I could be mixing him up with someone else. As long as you dont go Vegan, there is no reason you couldnt get alot bigger, with whey protein, cans of tuna fish etc. Remember though, genetics are important, unless you have the genetics for it, or wish to take growth hormones or steroids, you will not get as big as Bill Pearl.

The opposite to your theory on vegetarianism being a religious agenda could be true. 99% of the people who try to confront me about being a vegetarian say the same fucking thing, "God put animals on earth for us to eat.". They also claim that the bible tells them this. Whatever. Also, no one can ever answer me on our own reason for existance. Seems the only thing humans are good at are destoying ourselves and bringing everything else right down with us.

Are stong ethical beliefs only necessary when you fear eternal damnation?

I stopped eating meat out of a genuine compassion for animals. I think that we, as the "higher" species, should protect them rather than torture them and kill them for a snackfood. Is destorying everything our only way of proving our "superiority"? We cut down their homes, use them for experiments, use them as slaves or status symbols and needlessly consume them. Why? Because we're somehow better than they are? Bullshit!

I always hear "Other animals eat meat.". So what. They eat meat because they are designed for it and need to. We aren't and don't. Our digestive system is similar to herbivores (longer intestinal tract, for example), and nothing like a carnivore (short intestinal tract). Humans have to cook meat in order to not get violently ill off of it. Have you ever seen a lion BBQing an elk? We supposedly have canines. Compare ours to an actual carnivore. I welcome anyone to jump on a cows back and dig into it's neck with your giant canines.

People only eat meat because they are brought up with the belief that they are supposed to and out of laziness. If people had to kill, slaughter and prepare their own meat I guarantee you'd see a drastic increase in the sales of tofu. Safe packages of prepared meats don't scream in pain or look back at you.

As for Pearl, he's a lacto-ovo vegetarian (as am I, only I try to stick with organic food, which is more expensive but less guilt causing), so he probably does drink milk. Personally, I prefer soy milk, and it's protien content is comparable to cows milk. Check out his webpage, www.billpearl.com and look at his nutritional suggestions.

And finally, it is possible to get to a respectable size as a vegan. Not Lou Ferrigno big, but a lot bigger than an average man.

Well Old Dirty Bastard, I respect your opinion, but disagree with it. You do make a good point about people saying animals were put on earth by god for us to eat- i never would have thought of this as I am such a godless bastard, who cares little for such strange biblical connnotations.

As for Humans designed not to eat meat, are you sure? I know from an anthropoligcal standpoint, hunting and meat eating was a central reason for our social and cultural development. Men organized for hunting, learned to communicate with each other, also everyone had to huddle together before the fire, to cook their meat- or eat it raw on the spot. In fact, I thought are bodies are just fine with eating a mostly meat diet- this is the basis of the Atkins diet, and we can eat the flesh of most animals raw. I for one very much enjoy braesole, and very very rare steaks. Humans really didnt have a choice in food, until we started farming- and if anything wheat and oils etc. are much worse for us, than the lean wild meat, nuts and berries we used to survive on. Lastly, humans must have good protein, meat is the easiest way to get it.

Those animals are raised to be slaughtered, they would not exist in sch quantities if they were not to be eaten. I am concerned about the drugs and conditions these animals are raised in, more than if they will be slaughtered or not. Why, becuase I am a heartless bastard, and frankly i could care less if the animals suffer, its not as if they have complex minds, and to what benefit is it to the animal that they live a long life, to old age?

Well thats all i got. Hope i wasnt too preachy either.

As for the bodybuilding thing, are you just starting or what? I guess I should say i look more like a american football player than a bodybuilder, Im more into getting stronger( I weigh 210 now- started 170lbs) than getting that perfrect sculpted look. It just seems like such a waste of time, and vanity to go after that BIll Pearl look, I just really enjoy lifting weights.
