Erik said:This attitude is absolutely fucking gay, I hope you realize. "Oh, people actually like a band, let's not include it lest Nevermore's super awesome masterpiece Dreaming Gay Manlove gets voted out?"
Erik said:I would vote for it over albums that I liked more.
Erik said:You have no grounds for this whatsoever.
You are trying to get a more balanced result by unbalancing the poll. This is not the way to go about things.
Two things. First off, in the new poll, we don't intend to leave things out, just because people will vote for them. In this current poll, the Final 4 from 2005 were left out, simply because we didn't see any point in having a poll, that yields identical results, year after year.Erik said:People vote for what they like. What takes the FUN out of things is purposefully leaving out VERY POPULAR bands just because people will vote for them.
Erik said:You're right, I don't know what it's about, but since you haven't said anything I assume it's some sort of "vote for your favourite shitz!" (I mean it's absolutely useless to discuss anything if this is going to be "your favourite band that starts with the letter N" or "your favourite band with a lead singer called Tony") AND in that case I would think you would include bands/albums that RC regulars like/find relevant. If it's COMPLETELY RANDOM then great, I look forward to voting "The Heartwork EP" over "Blood for the Blood God" on Flexi disc
Erik said:but what you did now in this thread was say "oh right bathory" and then "no let's not include bathory because it will skew the results".
Not so. It's quite possible that a Final 4 band from 2005, knocked someone out in the 1st Round, who might have made it to the Elite 8, had they been faced with different matchups.Erik said:Fair enough, although you realize that all this accomplishes is a "what's your favourite band except your favourite bands" poll, which can easily be produced by taking last year's list, printing it out, and through the usage of a pair of scissors cutting off the top 4 bands.
What I've tried to do with all of these polls, is reflect the bands that generate the majority of the chatter in this forum. This has never been skewed by what I listen to (or at least, I've tried not to skew it). If you compare the 64 bands in this tournament, with my own posted list of 25 Top CDs of 2005, you'll find very few similarities:Erik said:If it includes Nevermore or Opeth I will make angry smileys at you on the Internet. If it doesn't include Skepticism, Deströyer 666, Sólstafir or Negurã Bunget I'll print out angry smileys on paper and mail them to you.
