Watch Andy mixing an album ?

I have to agree with MK on this one.... I've certainly learned more about recording (and especially metal) thru the forums and magazines than I ever did in School. This forum in particlular, has been a HUGE help with my guitar tones.... I'm certainly indebted to a number of you guys.

There are some guys here who have even studied Andy Wallace's mix notes using recall but are unable to duplicate his mixes

That would be me. Andy Wallace doesn't take notes. I looked at the recall notes which are taken by the assistant engineer at the end of each session. I never tried to "duplicate" his work. As a matter of fact, I have never tried to duplicate anyone else's style. I take certain standout (in my mind) tips and ideas that I've learned from others and incorporate them into my work. I know what you're saying though and agree.

I guess I did go through a little "Brenden O'Brien wannabe" stage. :)
Here's a fun one from those days -
