Personally I find most Scandanvian black metal very generic.

I agree, for the most part. I try not to get mixed up with all these new wave black metal bands. There's too many older black metal bands that I'd rather buy from.

Currently, France, Germany, and Poland have the besz BM scenes I think. The U.S. only has a handful of good BM bands, but I do like the older stuff out of Norway..

Agreed. Nokturne US is pretty decent USBM, Fog (RIP) was good USBM as well I dont know about andy's new band Typhus on how they sound.
My favorite BM has been coming from Finland bands like The True Black Dawn
and Enochian Crescent, "O", Behexen, Horna and others and DM bands
like Deathchain, Rotten Sound, Deathbound and so on are good as well.

I've been listening to some Sapthuran (US) on myspace and I think it is pretty good. Seems a little more accessible, but still in the same vein as Xasthur.
