What don't you "get"?

... yes ...

I dont GET.. why there are special parking spaces reserved for handicapped people, but, not for heavily pregnant women.. do you know how bloody hard it is to waddle from your car all the way into the shopping centre and back.. especially if you gotta carry groceries or something.. when you're about to pop a kid?? I think they should issue special handicap passes for preggo's and new mothers! (though that being said, i dunno about anywhere else but here they do have a couple of spaces for people with prams - when I was pregnant in japan though, there was none of that and it was painful)

So, I'm a BAD person AND I'm going to hell? I'll be the guy with the flies following me from now on!

Now with this preggers stuff, you get an extra "shelf" to carry the grocery bags around with so I see no need whatsoever! :heh:

I think SOME pregnant gals would abuse the right. If you lived here, you'd think MOST of the women were pregnant. Just tonight, I the rather portly woman in front of me was buying all kinds of junk food....and a case of Diet Coke....I really had to bite a hole in my tongue......Glad my dad wasn't with me, he'd have said something... If we lived close to either coast, she would have been harpooned & turned into soap!:saint:

Tongue planted firmly in cheek,

No, i think the point was people need to shit more than they need to park closely. The difference though i think is that with stalls, it's pointing out that it is handicapped accessable, not that it is reserved only for the handicapped. Parking spaces are reserved only for handicapped.

I don't understand people who get offended by the interweb. it makes me laugh.

But if you're allowed your own stall, and have to park far away, it might just be too late! I think both have to work in conjunction with each other.... EDIT: Then again, the "accident" would happen outside, and be easier to hose off. I HATE going into a stall where someone "spray painted" :puke:
:)

No handicap passes for pregger chicks though!
hehehehehehehe

Hypothetical situation: I've just eaten too much bad Taco Bell, and I feel that a volcano is beginning to erupt in my colon. I pull into the nearest Wal-Mart or grocery store and run (gingerly) to the bathroom. All the stalls are occupied EXCEPT the handicap stall. Am I a bad person for using the last remaining stall, instead of crapping myself? Am I going to hell for this?

But what if there is a handicapped person heading in? Or about to?

Nope, they don't need those spaces. They chose to be that way (at least most of the time) and can live with it. Handicapped people, on the other hand, did not.

Actually, many shopping malls and department stores here have done just that, set up close parking spots for pregnant women. I think it's a great idea.

I don't understand why i have to go to school today. I go from 11:30 to 1:00, and all i do is get my new books. What a waste of time. I could easily get my new books when classes actually start...

Yep, Target has a space - yeah, one space - and I typically see it occupied by some fat, greased-up porker guy who can't park three spaces farther away from the door.

It would also be helpful for a space for new moms as well.

I'd rather park in BFE and get some exercise, myself.

Regarding driving, I don't get people who:

Can't parallel park (required for a license here in NY, not elsewhere, but it's still something that's useful to know)
Don't use a signal
Don't even out their car when they park crooked and end up occupying two spots
Can't drive in reverse

My dad taught me how to drive; he said one day "for the rest of your life, you'll be driving forwards. Today, you'll go backwards!" My arm felt like it was going to fall off and I totally hated it; but after that it helped me with my forwards driving, too. Who would've thought?

:tickled:

Nah it was in a parking lot, doing random stuff, like going around the perimeter clockwise/counter-clockwise, backing into a spot, going backwards all over the place, etc. In retrospect it was actually kind of fun.

I don't see why pregnant women should be given any special treatments over anyone else. I'm gonna go out on a limb here and guess that most handicapped people arent handicapped by choice, or due to their own actions. So, you want a kid, you get pregnant, you walk like the rest of us.

Also, I see plenty of pregnant women who choose not to use their pregnancy as an excuse for things. Of course, they are also the ones who take good care of their bodies and manage to stay in healthy shape while pregnant. As opposed to the other end of the spectrum of women who think society owes them non-stop attention and/or maid service just because they've quadupled in size.

Oh yeah, when you're kid is almost 5 or 6 yrs old, stop trying to use the whole, "oh its just weight from my pregnancy" line as an excuse for being fat. Nobody is buying it.

Ah, I see you have much to learn about life...

Somebody strap him into a pregnancy suit.

I don't think the parking spaces for pregnant women are anything more than a courtesy to the store's guests. If I was a store manager, I would much rather a pregnant woman spends her energy walking around my store's maternity section than walking across a very large parking lot. She can't spend any money in my parking lot, but with time she can drop a couple bills on my inventory.

But, that's just me putting on my Store Manager glasses and trying to drop inventory. As my wife and I found out earlier this year, most stores are dropping their maternity sections altogether and forcing women to shop online. Perhaps more Expecting Mother spaces in the parking lots would help their sales substantially and show greater profits in their stores. And not just in their maternity sections (if they brought them back). Pregnant women like to walk around a lot, afterall...

I think some of ya are taking this wayyyy too seriously. I really don't mind
them having their own spot. I almost always park at the end of the lot, and I'm never in THAT much of a hurry where 20-30 steps is going to be critical.
The only exception is the bad food scenario! If they need/want a closer spot, fine with me. And to all the ladies on the list, my shelf comment was a JOKE!!!! :saint:
