Bands you just don't get

I don't get forum favorite Evergrey. I know that strange for ProgPower fan.
Pain Of Salvation is one I don't get either.

I agree with Circus Maximus...

Pyramaze
Falconer blows
And Stratovarius pretty much blows except for a couple of songs...

And it's not a power metal thing, I love a lot of power metal. :headbang:

and for the record... FATES WARNING RULE!!!:kickass: :kickass: :kickass:

I hate Falconer too. Tried hard to get into them after seeing the buzz - I've got 2 albums - but just can't....so traded them on Lala.com. =)

And for the record...Fates Warning , Pain of Salvation , Zero Hour , Dream Theater and Evergrey all rule...These are the bands that make this genre so special. Those who listen to progressive music and say its noise can't wrap their underdeveloped minds around greatness.Theres too much going on for their mental capacity.Thats why we have the genious people running around Atlanta every year....Metal head overload

I might get kicked off the forum for this but I think Blind Guardian is the most overrated band ever. I just dont see what other people see in them. The mix of Hansi's voice and all the leads and layers is just too much for me. Its like eating at a chinese buffet restaurant and mixing everything together in a blender and drinking it. Too many different things at the same time. I do like one or two of their songs however.

Evergrey is a close second, but for different reasons.

HAHAHA...l like you...and that's rare. :heh:

current bands I cant get into would be Opeth, and most other fem fronted bands

Are you sure you're not thinking of OTEP? They have a female vocalist who growls and, like Arch Enemy, they are on of the few female fronted bands I just can't get into. The Gathering is another, but I think they have more of a chance of winning me over eventually.
Last time I checked, Opeth still had a male vocalist. Opeth is another band I don't get. I was unfortunate enough to have seen them live twice and both times they bored me to tears. Their stage presence was just awful - they just stood there. In fact, I thought they looked more bored then I felt.

p.s. For fem fronted bands, have you heard Triosphere?
Got one of their albums recently and really enjoyed it, but they haven't hooked me yet. Perhaps I should give that disc another spin.

I dunno.. I just can't get into Zero Hour.
I saw them last year at PP USA. Very talented guys. No denying that. Its that I just couldn't get into their music. I'm more of a power fan than prog, but some prog I get, some I like quite a bit, but this ZH just confuses me more than anything.
I agree 100%. They were amazing musicians, but their set made for a nice rest time for me. I could space out and listen and find them relatively enjoyable live, but I'll never buy one of their albums.

Other bands I "don't get":
Dave Matthews Band
Trivium
Kill Switch Engage
System of a Down - For the most part they just sounds like noise to me; Half their songs make decent political statements, but the other half just sound like their writing process consisted of pulling random topics, words and noises out of a hat.
Tool - way overrated IMO
Pink Cream 69 - I liked Thunderdome, but I think that was about it.

Pretty much anything that falls into the genres of Emo, Screamo, Hardcore, NuMetal and most new rock or "metal" that gets played on the radio. - I hate to put it that way, but every time I turn on the radio I hear the same thing, even if it's a band I've never heard before.

Most non-melodic Death Metal and Black Metal - Sorry, I need to understand a singer at least part of the time in order to appreciate a band.

This is true for Imaginations and onward, but the earlier stuff is different. People hype Imaginations, NiME, and such wherever I read about them, but I hype the Hell out of their earlier stuff. I just love the good ol' fashioned speed/power metal of their first four albums. And thankfully their live sound is quite similar to those :D

While I understand people not getting certain bands, with this kind of mix, I don't think there is one single band that is loved/worshiped by everyone.

As for Freak Kitchen, I can only say 2 things
1) I'm glad Glenn likes them! :headbang:
2) After all the detractors last year, they sure seemed to gain quite a few new fans... Can't wait to see them again in October....They're going to kick even more ass than before....

Last year, I totally did not "get" the whole FK thing, but I had a feeling that IA would shred and be very interesting to watch.

I'm so glad that I did not blow off their set...I've never rocked out and laughed so much during a show...what a blast!

I've been hardcore fanboy ever since...thanks to PPUSA! Just goes to show...you never know what's gonna end up kicking your ass...

On the flipside, at VI I was totally stoked about PC69, and, while I had a blast meeting those guys and hanging out, their set was pretty boring. Good musicians, good material, but they just seemed to be mildly cruising through their set and it was very disappointing. Still love those guys, but I don't think we got their best that year...

Rock on!

Agreed! A LITTLE more stage presence would have been a HUGE improvement. In the end, though, we still got to see PC69, and musically, it kicked ass (IMO):headbang:

For Blind Guardian, I like them alot, though they are a bit overrated, but most overrated band ever?

just a note: when you write the lettering "POS" or "P.O.S." you quite possibly could mistaken to be referring to
