What genre are these bands?

I'm still sorta new to the whole metal scene, and i am still sorta getting over the whole metalcore thing.

But yeah i don't know what these bands come under.

1. In Flames
2. Opeth
3. Machine Head

And really i would like some suggestions of decent thrash bands.

ok well atleast your "getting over metalcore"
-In flames is like Melodic death.
-Opeth is like Progressive melodic Death.
-And Machine Head i would call nu-metal. but i don know them very well.
