Yea, I like DWOT though. Some kickass songs on it that grow on you.

I mean the title track itself but the entire recording gets it done for me. There was no growing for me, SX hit the spot I needed scratched imeadiately. As I said Im metal limited and it needs to be intelligent, varied, have solid vocals (free of macho BS) and Russell Allen has the right amount of grit and passion... its real and its intense.

Thats a mighty fine way to describe such an album recorded by SX. I agree however that not every song grew on me. Probably about 2-3 songs would grow on me from that album.

Pantera are great
IMO Phil Anselmo is an absolutely brilliant vocalist, his singing and screaming are both good, and when he screams it just sounds like an extension of his singing voice, rather than what I like to call the "double act" that a lot of metalcore band use.

If you want another song where he sings properly, try the songs Power Metal, Hollow and This Love.

A friend, and fellow local musician, an extremely naturally talented drummer, origional metal head... IOW hes not a pup like most posters here, is very much into Pantera but that stuff is not for me. Im very much into Symphony X and that stuff is not for him. Its cool.
