what Obama has in store for service members wounded in battle

selective hearing.

Shock and amazement. Apropos remarks, general frustration. Promise to not respond to more trolling.

Really, the only thing I read was your quote of me. And no, I wasn't blaming George Bush the person or the President. I was blaming everything and everyone surrounding the 2000 and 2004 elections, the lies, the corruption, the hate, and the division that spilled out into the open for everyone to see, and blamed it, or embraced it, as the catalyst for Obama winning in a Landslide over John McCain, and then went on to say nothing in Washington has or can change until Congress gets cleared out and new blood thinkers like Grayson and Franken and (crazy uncle) Paul and go in, (forgive me, I can't think of any new blood republicans that are not all about the old school) stand up, and say what needs to be said, and hopefully follows through. However, because this didn't happen last election, and I, for one, would be SHOCKED if you even knew the massive outcry we all had regarding Ms. Pelosi's corruption, 18-35 year olds who's attention spans are less than 5 seconds to begin with, have already become disenfranchised with the entire poltiical system, and with them, the ability (lol more like slim to none possibility) to actually change anything through voting.

We now take our entertainment through the media-less coverage of the Tea Parties general collapse into death threats against democrats for passing healthcare (lol whut? Crazy Wingnuts? NOOOO) and the continuation of the absolute JOKE Sarah Palin has become, even as she continues her strong paced march towards irrelevancy, desprately clinging to any portion of attention she can, we finallly see her for what she is: A silly Fame-Vampire. A real life internet troll, and possibly one of the best.

No, sir, this goes far beyond your silly anti-liberal tag lines, and the more you try and use them, the more irrelevant you become as well.

Your liberal talking point "blame Bush" BS made you look ignorant.

BTW - here's results on the latest live poll going on CBS (Coddle Barack Station), that bastion of bias liberal reporting. Grading his presidency so far. To say his grades suck would be an understatement. Even that networks cupping of Obummer nuts can't help.

You left off the last line in their poll summary: "NOTE: This is not a scientific poll. The results above are for information purposes only, and should not be confused with the results of the scientific polls conducted by CBS News."

On-line polls are worse than worthless.

But, it is a poll that everyone (independent, liberal, and conservative) has access to as opposed to a "scientific poll" where the participants can be "hand picked" and skewed. ;)

But, opportunity is available for either side to "bomb away" as opposed to a demographic hand chosen to skew, which is most often times the case. At the very least, there's equality in that.

In this case, it's a liberal network administering the poll. You would expect the demographic to be heavy liberal as well. Maybe it is and their tired of his shit as well. ;)

were you this wary of the government before the Bush administration?

I probably would have been were I *old* enough to be aware. you have to keep in mind, that I was 15 when GWB was elected.

I'm also going to go on record and say, that like many people that age, I was a dumbass when I was 15.*

*I got better.

I'd be interested to see any objective evidence to support that bold claim. (No pun intended.)

It's easy as shit to slant a poll whichever way you like it. You want results that are skewed to the left? Conduct your phone poll in the afternoon. You want results skewed to the right? Conduct it in the evening after 6:30. That's just one way; there are many others.

Thank god for my somewhat-higher-quality morning talk-radio here in Atlanta, where you learn all sorts of interesting stuff. :)

For example: did you know that legislative bill writers are sometimes ordered to change the text in a bill to avoid internet searches? For example, let's say a bill contains a special exemption for one particular state. Instead of listing the state in the bill, they'll be told to hyphenate the state name at the end of a line, so it doesn't pop up when someone searches the bill.

Your government at work.

The issue isn't whether it is possible to slant a scientific survey; any crap survey technique or poorly designed questions will achieve that in a heartbeat. The claim that seems dubious (unproven/unprovable) was that most scientific polls reported in the media are intentionally biased, leading to the absurd conclusion that a sidebar poll on a website could be more reliable.

Example.

Also, do you have any idea how easy it is to write a script to vote over, and over, and over on your behalf?

yea... look to the polls!!
because it represents what the public may believe.

who cares if what they believe has any basis in fact - they BELIEVE it. so thats how we should run the country, right??
and i wonder why so many people have such radical and unsupported opinions...

www.foxnews.com

the right has tossed out dozens of incredibly illogical challenges and "what if" situations that usually only follow a solid progression of thinking if it is assumed obama is a secret hitler-idolizing socialist trying to destroy the country.
however, the one argument they have had a point on (some of their financial critiques) is just a philosophical difference.
i come from money being important, but not more important than the health and lives of millions of american citizens.
apparently, the republican party believes the possibility of a somewhat significant monetary loss if all their theories play out outweighs the need of health care reform for the well-being of individual citizens.

Doesn't help when the gov't continues to assist in developing that mentality, by continuing to create programs that foster that attitude. It only takes one side to say no, to start making that change, and obviously neither side is going to do it. Therein lies the anger by those of us who don't/can't/aren't willing to abuse the system and don't want to pay for the opportunity for others to do so.

:worship:

Congress needs term limits - 3 would be plenty. Lobbyists need to be completely banned from anything to do, and serving the government shouldn't be ladled with perks and paychecks. It should be a god damned service like the Army. FUCK these for-life Congressmen and Senators who do everything to stay in power and NOTHING for the people.
I totally agree. We are now ruled by "royalty" more interested in their careers and entitlements than doing anything that will really help the peons, uh, people. This is exactly what our founding fathers tried to avoid, but this is exactly what we have evolved to now. We need to limit the politicians' terms and take away their tax-funded mansions, planes and other entitlements before we'll ever get effective governing.

I'm not so sure that term limits sovles the problem of lobbyist influence. If anything it could make it worse as lobbyist's need to mobilize for more elections. I'm sure they aren't worried at all in my district, as my represenative is on term 13 and will be a lock for another (barring retirment as he is 79). They hardly need to spend any cash to get him re-elected (and the other side doesn't spend either, since it's a likely loss).

This doesn't have much to do with this thread, but kudos to Maria Conchita Alonzo! For calling Penn out!

Yahoo: Conservative propoganda disguised as a content push site.

From the article...all you need to know:
In an interview with Fox News today,

Fox news, conservative propaganda disguised as "balanced" news.

Look, bottom line on Obama this is that you have a bunch of scared rich people who see a smart black guy running things now. They will do anything they can to undermine everything he does, because he is a very real threat to all the things they hold dear--greed, repression, bigotry, hate, disinformation and deception of those who serve the elite.

Every crisis we are facing right now, from the economy to the massive oil spill, is a direct result of the policies from the Bush Crime Family and 8 years of unmitigated greed. No matter how loud the conservatives shout, no matter how many stupid protests occur, no matter how many well meaning but ignorant people posts in threads like this, you will not be able to erase what happened between 2000 and 2008.

President Clinton faced very similar issues when he came into office, and the conservatives fought him every step of the way. He ended up helping create 22 million jobs and handed TBCF a budget surplus that we may never see again.

The fact that so many "normal" folks think and vote against their own best interest is testament to the effectiveness of the conservative disinformation campaign. Hopefully people will wake up sooner or later.
