I understand exactly Joe's point. Writing homossexual fanfic about real people is fucking disgusting. But I gotta tell you something: I hate this "politically correct" trend, and I hate to have people jumping on my neck every time I say something they don't agree with, and labeling me "close-minded".
So here it goes: I think homossexualism is wrong. I have the right to think it's wrong, and nobody, not even an "enlightened, open-minded" individual will take that from me. Label me a homophobe, prejudiced bigot, whatever. I don't care.
Does that mean I will go to the streets with "God hates fags" banners? Hell, NO. There's a big freaking difference. My boss is gay and I freaking respect him a lot. He's a very accomplished professional and a very considerate human being as well. I will not judge a person because of his sexual orientation. Even if I think it's wrong.
Society has been known to develop perverted and/or self-destructive behaviors, and if enough people condone it, then after a while it's the norm. Smoking is a fucking STUPID thing to do, but if you did it some time ago, you were seen as sophisticated, maybe a free-thinking rebel. Even if it was stupid, give it enough approval and after a while it becomes the norm.
I don't regard cultural changes as cultural evolution. If I did, then I'd have to accept general promiscuity as cultural evolution, and I don't. And before you start typing angry responses to this message, let me leave you with this: I believe in morality. And morality comes from purpose. I think what I'm trying to say is clear. If you don't agree, then by all means suck dicks to your heart's desire. Or condone it, if you don't feel inclined to do it yourself. I won't preach to you, don't worry.
ALRIGHT. Now to the central point. I certainly saw 3 steps in this whole fandom thing. Let's pick a fictional character, say, Cloud from FFVII:
1) I love Cloud!
2) I love drawing / writing about Cloud!
3) I love drawing / writing about Cloud's butthole!
I don't know about you, but I see a huge freaking leap from step 2 to step 3. And I think it's really sad and pathetic that people will sexualize EVERYTHING. If I was an author, and I created some characters, and then saw people writing all kinds of pathetic, perverted stuff about them, I'd be pretty disappointed.
If you SINCERELY don't see anything bad in that, then ok. It's your opinion. Alright. If you think it's pathetic, but won't say so because then you'd be labeled as "close-minded", then grow some balls and start standing for what you think. I don't agree that I have to accept all kinds of deviate behaviors so my peers will not look down upon me.
I'm not saying this is directed to anyone. But it makes me irritated that society has been trying to take away our right to think something's right or wrong. Gay sex does bother me, I don't want you to rub it in my face and call me close-minded because I get disgusted. I can't help it, I get disgusted and I think it's wrong. Fuck you. And also, I didn't read that shit Joe posted, I started and realised what it was about and skipped the entire post.
Another thing: in gay parades, homossexuals dress up and act like COMPLETE RETARDS. If I ever see someone who's straight dressing and acting like a complete retard, I will construct an image of him accordingly. Now, do I have to think that's cool just because they're gay? I mean, they're gay so they can do anything and that's it? I think that's pretty arrogant, actually, like saying "alright, you're already different and strange, so nothing you do will surprise me anymore".
This politically correct trend is so demented and hypocritical it makes me wanna throw up blood.
