in flames are touring with skipknot. these guys(in flames) are so talented, are they selling themselves for commercial success? will their musical direction change to more popish songs? after juster race and whoracle, their other releases were not great, but just good.
i feel dt are more focussed in their music. for me even dt has changed quite a bit from the gallery days. the songs are shorter and the punishment is not that severe. does anybody feel that way, do you agree with the song structures of like "haven" or "projector".
whatever be it dt rules!

Hmm, dunno about In Flames, but I just hope that they bring back some of the clean vocals for the next DT album. I think that's what makes Projector their best album in my opinion: a wide degree of contrast, not only loud/quiet and fast/slow, but clean/growling vocals. I mention this because, in a way, you could claim that the clean vocals on Projector was 'selling out' and that Haven was actually a return to death metal roots. But I don't think accessibility is a bad thing, as long as you stay true to what you do. And I think DT have largely achieved that.

In Flames is not selling themselves out for commercial success, I doubt In Flames personally asked for the tour, most likely set up by NB. Regardless, Ill admit as an In Flames fan they sure as hell got simpler and a lot less heavy. It dissapoints me but I still like their music, their trend as it seems though is 2 albums usually sound similar in different aspects

Lunar Strain-Subteranean
Jester Race-Whoracle
Colony-Clayman

Of course all of them are different but different elements sound alike, ANYWAY my point is I think theres no way to tell what the next album will sound like, Ill tell you one thing, its gonna be In Flames defining album, itll make them or break them among their true fans.

As for the gods that are Dark Tranquillity, I think their path is perfect. Yeah theyve changed but they always remained true and heavy, with great melodies. Projector was an experiment that worked well IMHO. Now with the addition of Brandstrom and the synths, well see if they take a CoB style approach and actually give the keyboards a defining spot, or if they continue to use it for atmosphere.

I personally have no worries about DT, Stannes vocals are top notch as always, hes always reinventing himself, their songs are always full of energy and great melodies. DT is gonna be great to watch expand further.

Thats my 2 cents, sorry for the length :p anyway. LONG LIVE MELODIC DEATH  :headbang:

IMO In Flames have definetly been going for a more commercial sound with Clayman. The songs are much simpler, Friden's vocals more refined and a large amount of clean vocals too, poppy choruses are all over the place.
