Who is *NOT* available in 2008.....

I've seen 'em live more times than I can count, and I've NEVER been disappointed by their show. They are just one of the best live acts in heavy metal. Besides, with Morten from MERCENARY on keyboards they've already won over half the PP USA audience :)

c.

Well that's good to know! Bring 'em on...oh, and I LOVED PC 69's performance by the way, one of my hilights from that year!

LOL. Now that I think about it, you must be pretty pumped about Primal Fear. You are going, right?

Zod

Sure I'm pumped up about them but I'm always more excited to see bands I've never seen. I saw PF at BWBK, NJ Metalfest and I think 1 other time. This is one of those cases that I know what I'm getting and Primal Fear is just icing on a cake for me. Bring on Raintime, Firewind and Communic! :headbang:

You, on the other hand, must be planning some "refreshments" during that part of the show?

You, on the other hand, must be planning some "refreshments" during that part of the show?

Friday
Raintime - I'll give them one song to knock my socks off and then it's off to the bar
Virgin Steele - looking forward to it
Redemption - can't friggin wait
Pagans Mind - should be excellent
Sonata Arctica - back to the bar

Saturday
Communic - I'm looking forward to it, though they have the potential to lose me
Firewind - drinks anyone?
Threshold - this was drinking time, until Damian got announced
Primal Fear - this should be fun, especially if they're tight and energetic (I expect the former, not the latter)
After Forever - can't wait to hear Floor sing live, but I could see myself quickly losing interest in their set

You?

Zod

I feel the same confidence when I suggest a Tiamat or Crematory at 3, Wig Wam or Charon or Xandria or Poisonblack at 2, or a Sonic Syndicate at 1.

I dont think Crematory will ever play any of the PPs, they are just too far out of the genre.

Let's hope Glenn never puts anyone in the "too far out" category. That's when we have the most fun and the biggest suprises! :)

Actually, I don't think they're any further out than any other band out there. Songs like "Fallen" or "Greed" are just killer melodic tracks. What's so far out about that?

Friday
Raintime - I'll give them one song to knock my socks off and then it's off to the bar **about the same
Virgin Steele - looking forward to it **not a fan
Redemption - can't friggin wait **me too
Pagans Mind - should be excellent **meh
Sonata Arctica - back to the bar **will give them a chance

Saturday
Communic - I'm looking forward to it, though they have the potential to lose me **I'm wearing a shirt that says Commermore. j/k
Firewind - drinks anyone? **my Diet Coke is on you!
Threshold - this was drinking time, until Damian got announced **can't wait
Primal Fear - this should be fun, especially if they're tight and energetic (I expect the former, not the latter) **wetting my pants right now thinking about it
After Forever - can't wait to hear Floor sing live, but I could see myself quickly losing interest in their set **probably have to watch because my wife loves them

You?

I should note that the band orders here for the days aren't right as you have to remember that there's 6 bands on Friday.

Friday
Raintime - I'll give them one song to knock my socks off and then it's off to the bar ** should be a lot of fun.
Virgin Steele - looking forward to it ** duhr. So can't wait!!!
Redemption - can't friggin wait ** I look foward to it.
Pagans Mind - should be excellent ** I don't know. Haven't listened to them enough to know how I feel.
Sonata Arctica - back to the bar ** Should be good stuff.

Saturday
Communic - I'm looking forward to it, though they have the potential to lose me ** I like their more proggy material. I look forward to it
Firewind - drinks anyone? ** Will be good stuff! I look forward to the more hook filled songs and Gus G.s playing.
Threshold - this was drinking time, until Damian got announced ** As with all prog metal of this nature I look forward to it but don't really know what to expect.
Primal Fear - this should be fun, especially if they're tight and energetic (I expect the former, not the latter) ** I have become a huge fan of this band.
After Forever - can't wait to hear Floor sing live, but I could see myself quickly losing interest in their set** Not sure.. might be great might not be... depends on song choice.

All Star Jam - Again I don't know. Depends on song choice and quality of the covers.

You?

Zod

Here's the proper order:

Friday:

Sonata Arctica
Pagan's Mind
Redemption
Virgin Steele
Communic
Raintime

Saturday:

All Star Jam
After Forever
Primal Fear
Threshold
Firewind

That's a shame to hear about Tarot.

However...Tacere? Manticora? Lake of Tears? Are they available?

Ayreon? (I can dream. If there's anyone that could pull that off, it's definitely Glenn)

Virgin steele is in too low a slot as well, I feel. I think they're a solid 3 for this festival...

You do realize that there is no difference in set length between the 2nd and 3rd spots, right? Technically they're the same ranking. If you dislike their placement in regards to their marquis value, then realize that Glenn doesn't always place bands based on that criteria.

Circus Maximus with one recently released album was listed over Manticora, because Glenn wanted a Power Metal act to open the fest. Nightwish was listed in a fourth spot because of their travel plans, while in fact they were his headliner.

Other than the order in which they're playing Virgin Steele and Redemption are on par.

Friday:
Sonata Arctica- I've seen them, which dulls the excitement a bit, but I'll watch.
Pagan's Mind- I'll probably watch most of this.
Redemption- Vendor time. I can't endure 2 straight sets of Prog.
Virgin Steele- Should be good, depending on their setlist.
Communic- Should be okay.
Raintime- Ecstatic!

Saturday:
All Star Jam- Expect this to be a lot of fun.
After Forever- I'll watch some, and see if they hold my attention.
Primal Fear- That's the one baby!
Threshold- I'll watch.
Firewind- Really looking forward to this one.

Here's my rundown...if anyone cares...I'm not sure why they would, but I'm bored.o_O

Raintime - I'm clueless to this band, so I'll watch and learn
Communic - I'm thinking I'll dig this band with their thrash elements
Virgin Steel - This band may loose me, but I'll wait and see
Redemption - I'll be huggin' the rail...can't wait!
Pagan's Mind - I'll be huggin' the rail...can't wait!
Sonata Arctica - I'm not a huge fan, but I'm looking forward to seeing them

Firewind - I'll be huggin' the rail...can't wait!
Threshold - I'll sit back, relax, and enjoy these guys
Primal Fear - I'll be huggin' the rail...can't wait!
After Forever - I'll be huggin' the rail...can't wait...Floor is a goddess! :worship:
All Star Jam - This should be interesting for sure

Yeah, I got what you're saying but I think that the number, for those who are unaware of the bands, does carry some type of "ranking" with people. I can't prove that, but I feel that's the case based on some posts around these parts.

My feelings about the lineup:
Raintime - I'm VERY interested to see/hear this band
Communic - I'm VERY VERY interested to see/hear this band
Virgin Steel - Put on a great show and I'm excited to see them again
Redemption - An endurance test will begin here
Pagan's Mind - Endurance test continues
Sonata Arctica - 50/50 odds of me even being in the building at this point but I really like their show. A bad "Unia" cd plus 2 bands prior that will push my limits equals a possible early trip to Steak & Shake. I'll try, though.

Firewind - Can't wait for this one!
Threshold - Killed last time and I like the new material! Let's hope they don't "Prog out" with their set!
Primal Fear - Never put on a bad show!
After Forever - Interested, indeed!
All Star Jam - This type of activity holds little interest for me generally speaking so I may stick around for a bit just to check it out.

My feelings about the lineup:
Raintime - I'm VERY interested to see this band, if they play more from Moot-Lie than Flies and Lies

Virgin Steel - Dont really like em on CD, give em a chance live though
Redemption - They were good opening for DT, hopefully they play more from The Fullness of Time
Pagan's Mind - Fuck yes
Sonata Arctica - Ive gotten burned out on these guys, hopefully their live set gets me in back into them. Lack of their main guitarist makes me think more Unia which sucks

Communic - I'm VERY VERY interested to see/hear this band ++++
Firewind - Allegiance is a good CD
Threshold - Interested to see
Primal Fear - Dont like em on cd-give a shit live
After Forever - Liking latest 2 albums
All Star Jam - Not sure if imma be there for this

That's a shame to hear about Tarot.

Ayreon? (I can dream. If there's anyone that could pull that off, it's definitely Glenn)

Someday, someyear, Arjen will just have to say "yes." Finally. :)

If it's a full show with lots of guest vocalists, it would be worth two slots' worth of time. :headbang:

For me, I'll be in the camera well fighting for room (!) for the first two songs by every band, time and autographing schedules permitting. Beyond that, I'll either stick around inside somewhere or go out and socialize, based on:

Raintime - can't wait!
Communic - should be good. I like what I've heard.
Virgin Steel - Not a fan of them, so I'll give them two songs and see what happens.
Redemption - should also be good.
Pagan's Mind - I liked them when they played before. Besides, these troopers deserve some support!
Sonata Arctica - drinking time!*

Firewind - I like what I've heard by 'em. Should be a good show; we'll see.
Threshold - I'll sit back, relax, and enjoy these guys <-- repeating someone else's comment. They were good at PPUSA before, but abysmal at PP Europe. They -did- apologize for the latter.
Primal Fear - same as for Firewind, above.
After Forever - I'll be curious to see how they compare with Epica last year, who I really enjoyed.
All Star Jam - Judging by how amped Glenn is about this, it should be terrific. (Those who want to hear ONLY metal songs will be disappointed.)

* I kid, I kid. I sponsored 'em. :)
