Why do so many people hate Anders Friden?

there are good changes and bad changes. latest in flames "sound" is much worse than the previous ones, imo. it's all a matter of tastes.

you people seem to pin point his clean vocals on R2R...

why? No one ever thinks that they did it on purpose with his clean vocals... Anders said in an interview there are certain restrictions when creating music with In Flames... but with his side-project Passenger, they could do whatever they want...

Anders sings and screams really well on Passenger... Passenger is an excellent CD... If you compare Stanne and Friden now... Friden is up there with Stanne on the Clean vocals still but not by much Stanne has a very wide range with his clean vocals but Friden has a wide range just not as much as Stanne.

You people say he can't write decent lyrics... actually he can... they're pretty good actually if you actually take time to analyze the lyrics and listen to it rite you'll see...
now i know his lyrical writting abilities arent as good as Sundin's, for example, his arent as complex.. yes ill agree but his lyrics are still really good tho

the vocals on R2R are because of the "dirty" production... it was to create a "heavy" like atmosphere with melody and rough vocals to try to appeal to other audiences...

In Flames were willing to change and make a difference in the metal genre... Dark Tranquillity hasnt really tried changing their sound... except for the Projector, but then they tried going back to a similar sound of the past...

In Flames are trying to change the metal genre, to be the leaders, to be the ones that make a difference and show the world there is great music beyond what you regularly see on MTV/MuchMusic... they are the ones that are trying to open up the underground metal scene to the world and some of you people flame them for even trying... its just a shame... even if you dont like what they create, you should still respect what they are trying to do... they have influenced so many people, so many bands and have influenced people to create bands and create music they love to listen to...

A thing I like about D.T. is that they're keeping the Classic Old School Gothenburg Style alive... DT and IF are great bands... they're both my favourites... I respect everthing they do... especially In Flames for trying new things with their music... at least they have guts to try something new and show the public what they can create with it

I love Anders vocals, and In flames is my favorite band, with DT right behind them. But I listened to Hedon today, and GODDAMN, Anders sounds "eviler" in those ten seconds he's in the song then on anything he's ever done with In Flames. Keep in Mind, I said "eviler" not better

After hearing Passanger, it's clear Anders can handle vocal duties for In Flames quite competently.

Nobody's arguing that Staane's the better vocalist, but attacks on Anders are pretty stupid just because his voice isn't up to par on R2R. Actually, I'm rather enjoying that album, it sunk in and I really dig it, but it's no Coloy or Jester Race naturally.
