Windir Appreciation Thread

I just finished listening to Likferd, rounding out all the Windir albums. I must say, these guys are fucking amazing. Top-notch riffs, great vocals, and amazing atmospheric keyboards (without going over the top with them as many do...)I must say, they're the perfect mix of screaming black metal and melodic folk. Dare I say the best BM band, period?

Windir and RIP Valfar.

I couldn't say they are the best black metal band because I don't listen to enough of it, but they are my favorite by far.

I thought the same thing when i heard them, "best BM band evar omg" they're fucking great but not the best.

but EVERYONE SHOULD CHECK OUT Cor Scorpii, it's the keyboardist' band. Fucking amazing. way better than vreid imo. it's like windir but with more classical elements

I actually think Windir are underrated by traditionalists, particularly 1184 which is a cut above their other albums. It would be in my top 10 BM albums of all time. 'Heidra' is just a phenomenally epic song.

Arntor goes a bit too far with the folksiness, but is still great. I never really cared much for Likferd.

Also, I never bothered checking out Vreid or Cor Scorpii, since I always assumed firstly that the talent left with Valfar, and secondly that it would be more in the vein of the more accessible Likferd rather than 1184. Am I wrong?

I've been getting into Cor Scorpii a bit lately. They're pretty good. Still, nothing can replace Windir.

I can't even put a label on Windir, they just don't remind me of a traditional BM band, too unique imo...they were amazing!
