I was raised in a white household, but I discovered metal completely by myself. None of my friends liked it, noone introduced me to it, it was entirely my choice to listen to it. Now, if I had been raised in a black culture, there is no reason that I would have chosen a different form of music.

Unfortunately, not many blacks even get a look-in on the metal scene, because of the way society seperates blacks and whites (believe me, it still happens, just nowadays we don't talk about it), black people are raised in almost an entirely different culture, where metal is pretty much nonexistent

Well heavy metal is predominantly white so I guess blacks dont look into it and because there is a wall between whites and blacks in the states still. But these days it's more cool to be into black culture like rap and talking like them than acting white. That's why wiggers are around. I'm Asian and people say I act and appear just like I'm white cause I'm a heavy metaller . I dont try to act white but I'm into white people music like hardcore and heavy metal

If you think about it, the more extreme the type of heavy metal the more likely that the participants will be white especially in Black Metal for its racism. Maybe in lighter metal there are some non-white people here and there. For example, I went to see Dying Fetus and 95% of the people there were white and I was like one of few non-white people there. On the other hand at the Biohazard Concert had like 70% white people and the rest had a mix of different people.

Like varg says, if you are born with brown hair and brown eyes then there is not much you can do about it, but you can at least try to find someone( a mate ) who is "Pure"...that's one of the things I remember from Lords of Chaos.

Burzum's music never stood for any of Varg's Nation Socialist views which he never adopted till he was incarcerated for a few years and decided to burn the bridges to his past within the norwegian black metal scene. I'm asian as well and I listen to burzum and many other bands with NS beliefs... just because you don't agree with a message doesn't mean you shouldn't listen to a band based on that alone...(I.E i'm not a Satanist by any definition but I listen to the band Deicide)

You know I would feel the same way if I didn't actually try and talk to people. I personally find every race has its flawed representatives and you can seriously not take a few of those and say "all of those <insert racists name> are all the same..." So honestly man, the only reason why people hate other people of other races is because they refuse to even see them as people. Metal is not popular with the Black culture-and the few black guys I have met who are into underground metal have been ostricized and looked down on by other blacks as "selling out" to whitey, etc.

I personally think it's about what you can relate to, I can't relate to living in the ghetto, with ho's and *BlinG* whatever that is, and smoking a fatty while hitting some dogs, or any other incoherent shit.

What I can relate to is sadness and misery and that's why I like most metal, Metal wih some political statements is good, be it anti-church, anti-establishment or historical.

I'm an Asian from Singapore, I'm NOT Chinese. I'm in fact considered Malay. Alot of the Malay community are huge, humongous metal heads, heavily into the metal scene. I liked metal before I ever came to Australia(which was 3 years ago). I come to Australia and I get Chinese people telling me I've sold out to being white, they expect me to like horrible J-pop and Cantopop.

I have more white friends here than I do Asian friends. Alot of them listen to metal, but I do know alot of other people who listen to Rap. Alot of Aboriginal(black native) people who listen to rap and dress up in their "Word Up" clothes. But I also know Aboriginal people who like metal.

In the end, who the fuck cares about your skin colour? The world should stop being so fucking racist and stereotypical. Listen to what you want.

No, I have not been through slavery. But I know some black kids who have ancestors who have. And it's really quite ugly. I'm not stupid, and I'm also not white, so I've seen my share of discrimination also. And just because some black kids in one neighborhood pick on the local whities doesn't give anyone a right to say "fuck(insert race here)". My comment about blacks and whites was out of line, so sorry.
